Experimental and numerical investigation of wave attenuation by emergent flexible vegetation
Wave attenuation by flexible vegetation is attracting increasing scholarly attention due to its coastal protection and ecological benefits. Although satisfactory progress has been made in understanding flexible vegetation dynamics and the resulting wave ...

Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with inflammatory rheumatic disorders (IRDs). High‐resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is widely considered the gold standard for the noninvasive assessment of ILD; however, its interpretation is constrained by substantial interobserver variability and the ...

Attenuation of ultrasonic waves in rolled metals
Scattering of ultrasonic waves in polycrystals with texture is studied in this article. The attenuations of the three wave modes are determined as a function of dimensionless frequency and propagation direction, respectively, for given orientation distribution coefficients (ODCs).

Attenuation of Magnetohydrodynamic Waves
The existence of viscosity, thermal conductivity, and electrical resistivity results in the dissipation of energy in MHD waves; the wave energy is consequently absorbed and the wave amplitude progressively attenuated. Dissipation mechanisms cause the amplitude of the waves to vary slowly over a large scale length L.

Stress wave attenuation in shock‐damaged rock [PDF]
The velocity and attenuation of ultrasonic stress waves in gabbroic rock samples (San Marcos, California) subjected to shock loading in the 2 GPa range were studied. Prom P wave velocity measurements we determined the damage parameter Dp and crack density ε of the samples and related these to the attenuation coefficient (quality factor) under dynamic ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
