Analysis of Wave Energy Conversion with Dynamic Systems Theory [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
In wave energy conversion one of the most important steps is building scenarios about long term efficiency, taking into account that several factors are involved.

The Optimal Configuration of Wave Energy Conversions Respective to the Nearshore Wave Energy Potential

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Ocean energy is one potential renewable energy alternative to fossil fuels that has a more significant power generation due to its better predictability and availability. In order to harness this source, wave energy converters (WECs) have been devised and used over the past several years to generate as much energy and power as is feasible.

Advances in the development of dielectric elastomer generators for wave energy conversion

open access: yesRenewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2020
This paper presents a summary of recent progress towards the development and upscaling of an emerging class of electrostatic power take-off (PTO) systems for wave energy converters (WECs), called dielectric elastomer generators (DEGs).

Conceptual Design Study Based on Reliability Assessment of Secondary Energy Conversion Mechanical System in Movable Object Type Wave Power Generator

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Movable object type wave power generators produce energy through the process of primary energy conversion, which converts the potential and kinetic energy of the waves into mechanical energy, secondary energy conversion that converts it into energy for ...

Slingshot Resonance for Ocean Wave Energy Conversion [PDF]

open access: yesMarine Systems & Ocean Technology, 2019
The slingshot effect and its application to converting ocean wave energy are discussed. It is shown that, owing to the large inertia transported by ocean waves and their periodicity, the slingshot effect can result in the transmission of significant kinetic energy to a puck colliding elastically with a pusher plate driven by ocean wave motion.

Detecting parametric resonance in a floating oscillating water column device for wave energy conversion: Numerical simulations and validation with physical model tests

open access: yesApplied Energy, 2020
The wave energy sector has faced enormous technological improvements over the last five decades, however, due to the complexity of the hydrodynamic processes, current numerical models still have limitations in predicting relevant phenomena. In particular,

Wave Energy Conversion through Oscillating Water Columns: A Review

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
An oscillating water column (OWC) is designed for the extraction and conversion of wave energy into usable electrical power, rather than being a standalone renewable energy source.

Hydrodynamic Performance of an Asymmetry OWC Device Mounted on a Box-Type Breakwater

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2021
To share the construction and maintenance cost, an asymmetric oscillating water column (OWC) device integrated with a pile-fixed box-typed offshore breakwater is considered experimentally and numerically.
