Effects of hydrorelease on the mechanical properties of muscle and fascia: A study using ultrasonic shear wave elastography

open access: yesClinical Physiology and Functional Imaging, Volume 46, Issue 2, March 2026.
Abstract Purpose Recent studies have shown that hydrorelease reduces gliding resistance around nerves and between fascia, alleviating pain. However, the effects of hydrorelease on the mechanical properties of muscle and fascia remain unclear. This study aimed to examine changes in the mechanical properties of muscle and fascia before and after ...

Direct Evidence of Topological Dirac Fermions in a Low Carrier Density Correlated 5d Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 13, 12 February 2026.
The 5d oxide BiRe2O6 is discovered as a low‐carrier‐density topological semimetal hosting symmetry‐protected Dirac fermions stabilized by nonsymmorphic symmetries. Angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy, quantum oscillations, and magnetotransport measurements reveal gapless Dirac cones, quasi‐2D Fermi surfaces, high carrier mobility, and a field ...

Successive Orthorhombic Distortions in Kagome Metals by Molecular Orbital Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 8, 6 February 2026.
Orthorhombic distortions in kagome metals break the symmetry required for exotic charge order. Synchrotron X‐ray diffraction of NdRu3Si2 reveals successive orthorhombic transitions driven by molecular orbital formation between kagome layers. The frustrated kagome lattice hosts degenerate patterns of kagome dimers whose short‐range correlations produce ...

Continuous observation of evaporation ducts in Super Typhoon Koinu (202314) using clustered wave gliders: mechanisms and maritime communication implications

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Formed by humidity stratification in the marine atmospheric boundary layer, evaporation ducts serve as critical natural channels for maritime over-the-horizon (OTH) wireless communication.

Wave‐Partition‐Governed Dual‐Site Spallation in Single Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 9, 13 February 2026.
Crystalline anisotropy shapes shock‐wave propagation and the resulting damage evolution in single crystals. Large‐scale molecular dynamics and damage modeling uncover a dual‐spallation mechanism driven by anisotropic elasticplastic wave separation, which mitigates damage accumulation.

Domed‐rim microbial polygons and their preservation potential

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
Microbially induced sedimentary structures (MISS) derive through interactions between minerals and microorganisms. We define a domed‐rim MISS, morphologically distinct from abiotic mud cracks and demonstrate its potential for long‐term preservation. These structures represent promising biosignatures in ancient environments on Earth and potentially Mars.

SWOT Geostrophic Velocity Validation Against In Situ Measurements in the California Current

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission provides high‐resolution sea surface height (SSH) observations from the Ka‐band Radar Interferometer (KaRIn), with the potential to improve our understanding of ocean circulation dynamics.

Fracture‐Assisted Pressure Solution Creep of Granite: An Example From the Mont Blanc Massif, Western Alps

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The Mont Blanc granite, as other deformed granites, has splitting properties attributed to two perpendicular planes: one formed by aligned fractures and the other by aligned micas in foliation planes. It is shown that this microstructure results from ductile deformation with stress‐driven dissolution of quartz and feldspar that passively ...

Design of a Wave-Shaped Towing Cable for Stable, Low-Drag Acoustic Monitoring in Wave Glider Systems

open access: yesPolish Maritime Research
As wave-powered unmanned surface vehicles, wave gliders offer an effective platform for persistent marine acoustic monitoring. However, the deployment of deep-towed acoustic systems from these platforms is impeded by challenges such as hydrodynamic drag,
