Double Helical Plasmonic Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic double helical antennas funnel circularly polarized light to the nanoscale, offering strong chiroptical interaction and directional light emission. Extending a single helix design tool, this study combines numerical modeling with experimental validation, revealing large, broadband dissymmetry factors in the visible range.

Quasi-planar optics: computing light propagation and scattering in planar waveguide arrays

open access: yes, 2009
We analyze wave propagation in coupled planar waveguides, pointing specific attention to modal cross-talk and out-of-plane scattering in quasi-planar photonics.

Elastic temporal waveguiding

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2023
Abstract We provide a theoretical framework to mold time-modulated mechanical metamaterials with frequency conversion and wave-steering capabilities. To illustrate the concept, we initially focus on 1D lattices, whereby a sufficiently slow time-modulation of the stiffness is employed to convert the frequency content of impinging waves ...

Positive‐Tone Nanolithography of Antimony Trisulfide with Femtosecond Laser Wet‐Etching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A butyldithiocarbamic acid (BDCA) etchant is used to fabricate various micro‐ and nanoscale structures on amorphous antimony trisulfide (a‐Sb2S3) thin film via femtosecond laser etching. Numerical analysis and experimental results elucidate the patterning mechanism on gold (reflective) and quartz (transmissive) substrates.

Investigations on Grating-Enhanced Waveguides for Wide-Angle Light Couplings

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
As a universal physical scheme, effective light couplings to waveguides favor numerous applications. However, the low coupling efficiency at wide angles prohibits this fundamental functionality and thus lowers the performance levels of photonic systems ...

Segmented waveguides in thin silicon-on-insulator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We have developed new silicon-on-insulator waveguide designs for simultaneously achieving both low-loss optical confinement and electrical contacts, and we present a design methodology based on calculating the Bloch modes of such segmented waveguides ...

Fourier finite element modeling of light emission in waveguides: 2.5-dimensional FEM approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present a Fourier finite element modeling of light emission of dipolar emitters coupled to infinitely long waveguides. Due to the translational symmetry, the three-dimensional (3D) coupled waveguide-emitter system can be decomposed into a series of ...

Azimuthons in weakly nonlinear waveguides of different symmetries

open access: yes, 2010
We show that weakly guiding nonlinear waveguides support stable propagation of rotating spatial solitons (azimuthons). We investigate the role of waveguide symmetry on the soliton rotation.
