Recent Developments in WDM-PON Technology

2006 International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2006
Considerable research is being conducted to exploit the potential of novel WDM-PONs exhibiting individual, data and protocol agnostic virtual point-to-point (p2p) links for each ONU. The research focuses on the deployment of uniform building blocks throughout the entire access network and on upgrading the channel data rate efficiently towards 10 Gb/s ...

A Novel Protection Architecture for WDM-PON

COIN-NGNCON 2006 - The Joint International Conference on Optical Internet and Next Generation Network, 2006
We first introduce a novel designing methods to protect WDM-PON. With these designing methods, we propose reliable and cost effective protection architectures. We also study the performance of our proposal in terms of availability and costs.

WDM PONs based on colorless technology

Optical Fiber Technology, 2015
Abstract Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) Passive Optical Network (PON) is foreseen to be part of the Next Generation Passive Optical Networks. Business and mobile fronthaul networks already express the need to develop WDM PONs in the access segment.

Spectrum-sliced bidirectional WDM PON

Optical Fiber Communication Conference. Technical Digest Postconference Edition. Trends in Optics and Photonics Vol.37 (IEEE Cat. No. 00CH37079), 2002
We demonstrate a bidirectional wavelength-division-multiplexed (WDM) passive optical network (PON) based on spectrum-sliced technique. This network transmits fifteen 500 Mbps downstream and fifteen 155 Mbps upstream channels over single strand of conventional single-mode fiber.

Survivable network architectures for WDM PON

OFC/NFOEC Technical Digest. Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2005., 2005
We propose and demonstrate a simple self-protecting architecture for WDM PON. The protection time was less than 10 ms, and the power penalty caused by the protection process was negligible.
