Effects of Weak Layer Angle and Thickness on the Stability of Rock Slopes [PDF]
This paper researches two key factors (angle and thickness) of a weak layer in relation to their influencing mechanism on slope stability. It puts forward the sliding surface angle and morphological model criteria for the control of rock slopes and ...

Controllable, driven phase transitions in the Fractional quantum Hall states in bilayer graphene
Here we report from our theoretical studies that in biased bilayer graphene, one can induce phase transitions from an incompressible fractional quantum Hall state to a compressible state by tuning the bandgap at a given electron density.

On the theoretical description of weakly charged surfaces [PDF]
It is widely accepted that the Poisson-Boltzmann (PB) theory provides a valid description for charged surfaces in the so-called weak coupling limit. Here, we show that the image charge repulsion creates a depletion boundary layer that cannot be captured ...

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Slope stability analysis is the most important problem in slope engineering design and construction. Open-pit slope often spans several strata, many of which are relatively weak. There may be faults and weak layers across the whole rock.

Non-local state-swapping of polar molecules in bilayers
The observation of significant dipolar effects in gases of ultra-cold polar molecules typically demands a strong external electric field to polarize the molecules. We show that even in the absence of a significant polarization, dipolar effects may play a

Raman imaging of doping domains in graphene on SiO2 [PDF]
We present spatially resolved Raman images of the G and 2D lines of single-layer graphene flakes. The spatial fluctuations of G and 2D lines are correlated and are thus shown to be affiliated with local doping domains.

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

The 2D weak localization effects at low temperatures T = (0.2-4.2)K have been investigated in nonsuperconducting sample Nd{1.88}Ce{0.12}CuO{4-d} and in the normal state of the superconducting sample Nd{1.82}Ce{0.18}CuO{4-d} for B>B_c2.
