Realization of the “Weak Rod” by a Double Layer Parallel Network

Neural Computation, 1994
The weak rod can be realized by a very natural double layer network with feedback. While the second layer is linear, the first layer is significantly nonlinear. Elements associated with the first layer are called “synaptic fuses.” An MRF argument is used to eliminate the line variables. The network makes what is cut transparent when a crease or a step

The Strength of an Adhesive Weak Boundary Layer

The Journal of Adhesion, 1975
Abstract The strength of model adhesive joints composed of different thicknesses of low (10,300 narrow distribution) molecular weight polystyrene sandwiched between high molecular weight poly(methyl methacrylate) has been studied. The joints model a polymer-to-polymer adhesive bond across a low-strength boundary layer.

Addressing the weak link between layer 2 and layer 3 in the Internet architecture

29th Annual IEEE International Conference on Local Computer Networks, 2004
With the rapid expansion and evolution of the Internet, the methodology of addressing in the data link layer and mapping between the network and data link layers has become inadequate to provide secure services in networks. In this paper, we examine the weak link between the network and data link layers in local area networks (LANs) with possible ...

Surface-Layer Characteristics in the Stable Boundary Layer with Strong and Weak Winds

Boundary-Layer Meteorology, 2003
An extensive meteorological dataset obtained from the plumevalidation experiment conducted by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) atKincaid during 1980–1981 is analysed for studying the characteristic differences in thesurface-layer parameters in strong and weak wind stable conditions.

Ni(II)octadecylphosphonate: an inorganic/organic layered weak-ferromagnet

Polyhedron, 2003
Ni[CH3(CH2)17PO3]H2O was prepared and characterized by several techniques and the magnetic properties were measured by using a SQUID magnetometer. Preliminary refinement of the X-ray diffraction powder data by structure-less Le Bail fitting could be obtained and the compound was found to crystallise in the orthorhombic space group Pmn21 with a=5.478(7 ...

Analysis of Multiple Weak Glancing Shock/Boundary-Layer Interactions

AIAA Journal, 1980
An analysis is developed for the change in boundary-laye r properties across a system of weak glancing shock/boundary-layer interactions. For a control volume about a given interaction, integral continuity, crossstream momentum, and streamwise momentum equations are solved for the boundary-layer properties downstream of the interaction.
