Wear rate and concentration of wear particles in lubricating oil

Wear, 1981
Abstract The relationship between wear rate and concentration of wear particles in lubricating oil was analysed. Large and small particles were considered separately. The effects of oil filtration, oil consumption, regular topping-up of oil and variation in wear rate during the running-in were considered.

Wear Rate of Polyethylene Bearing Components

The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery-American Volume, 2000
To The Editor: I read with great interest "Commentary. Design Issues in Clinical Studies of the in Vivo Volumetric Wear Rate of Polyethylene Bearing Components" (82-A: 281-286, Feb. 2000), by G. Lewis. I believe the author is to be commended for the very scholarly analysis of this issue and for again underscoring the difficulty of in vivo ...

Wear Load Capacity Rating of Gears

2020
In this chapter, after a brief examination of the various types of wear that can be found in the gears, the abrasive wear generation mechanism and the related influences are described. The main classic wear theories are then recalled, together with the equations that, for each of them, express the correlations between the various quantities involved ...

Vuilleumier Cooler Wear Rate Test Program

1976
Abstract : The report describes the current status of the Vuilleumier cryogenic refrigerator wear rate test program. The primary purpose of this program is to experimentally verify the projected long term operating capabilities of dry lubricated, Vuilleumier cycle cryogenic refrigerators and to investigate design alternatives for extending the ...

Fatigue wear as a rate process

Wear, 1963
Abstract The present paper presents the main steps of the quantitative treatment of a wear process in conditions in which adhesion, ploughing, and chemical wear mechanisms have relatively unimportant contributions. In agreement with the concepts modifying Griffith's theory of brittle fracture when applied to metals, the fatigue wear prevailing in ...

Rating Traction and Wear - A Review

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1973
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The paper reviews existing methods of measuring tread wear and traction and discusses their applicability to tire grading if performed on an indoor facility with a simulated roadway. Indoor testing would assure accurate control of all performance parameters, rapid collection of data, and effective exploration of ...

Tooth Wear Rate in Northern Bison

Journal of Mammalogy, 1984
Wood Buffalo National Park is a boreal preserve that spans the border between Alberta and the Northwest Territories. In its 44,668-km2 area there are about 6,000 free-roaming bison (Bison bison) (Anions, 1982, pers comm.; Anions and Lukiwski, 1980).

Statistical Analysis of Wear Rate Data

Journal of Tribology, 1987
The wear rate data of glass fiber reinforced polyethylene terephthalate (PET) has been analyzed statistically using the wear lifetime model together with the two-parameter Weibull distribution function. The specific wear rate versus normal load curve has been given a theoretical explanation, the empirical model being derived from the concepts of crack ...
