Enhancing the elevated temperatures tribological properties of Al–Mg2Si composites by in-situ addition of Ti-based intermetallics and hot working

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
Dry-sliding wear and friction behaviors of Al–15Mg2Si–5TiB2–4TiAl3 in-situ hybrid composites were evaluated at different temperatures (100–300 °C) and loads (10–60 N). The addition of TiB2 and TiAl3 particles enhanced the wear resistance.

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Crystallographic orientation dependence on nanoscale friction behavior of energetic β-HMX crystal

open access: yesFriction, 2023
Tribology behaviors of energetic crystals play critical roles in the friction-induced hotspot in high-energy explosive, however, the binder and energetic crystals are not distinguished properly in previous investigations.

Characteristic Aspects of Metal Wear: Wear-Induced Wear Transition and Characteristics of Wear Track Profiles

open access: yes, 2021
This chapter describes two characteristic phenomena of metal wear that are usually not often considered but are related to the basic aspects of wear. The first is a mild-to-severe wear transition caused by the wear itself. Convex sliding pairs are usually accompanied by rolling sliding motion, but rolling sliding motion sometimes produces a peculiar ...

A Return to Normality: A Descriptive Qualitative Interview Study Exploring the Patient Experience of Gout Flare Resolution

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Although the definition of a gout flare is well established, the state of gout flare resolution has not yet been defined. This study aimed to explore patients’ experiences and perceptions of gout flare resolution. Methods Semistructured interviews were conducted with 24 people with gout, guided by open‐ended questions exploring their ...
