Analytical Study of Reinforced Concrete Continuous Deep Beams

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2010
Nonlinear finite element analyses is carried out using the ANSYS11 program to predict the ultimate load for two different types of reinforced concrete continuous two-span deep beams. Results of comparing analytical with experimental data demonstrates the

Effect of Steel Fiber on The Behavior of Deep Beams With and Without Web Opening [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2011
This study investigates experimentally the strengthening of reinforced concrete deep beams using steel fibers. The experimental work could be divided in two parts, the first part consists of casting and testing six deep beams without web opening and the ...

Open Web Awards

open access: yes, 2008
Voting has begun for the second annual Open Web Awards. PS:  "Open" here seems to mean nothing more than openness to voting by anyone.  The award categories include sports and fitness, celebrity and gossip, and dating and romance.  All right.  But why not a category for science and scholarship?  (There are a few scholarly nominations in

Finite Element Investigation on Web-Post Buckling of Perforated Steel Beams with Various Web Opening Shapes subjected under different shear-moment interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The current method of assessment is based on FE models which still lack computational efficiency and are restricted by a number of limitations. Therefore, this work aims at the feasibility of developing FE models which are applicable to deformation and ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Inclined reinforcement around web opening in concrete beams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
YesTwelve reinforced-concrete continuous deep beams having web openings within interior shear spans were tested to failure. The main variables investigated were the opening size and the amount of inclined reinforcement around openings.

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.
