Post-Buckling Behavior of Beam Webs in Flexure

Journal of the Structural Division, 1978
The results are presented from an experimental study of beams subject to web buckling in a region of pure bending. Two sets of sections were tested, one with the neutral axis at the center of the web and one with 6/10 of the web area in compression.

Buckling and post-buckling of beams with flat webs

Thin-Walled Structures, 2005
Post-buckling of a stiffener beam subjected to single shear load was experimentally investigated. The results were analysed using Wagner theory and non-linear finite elements. A new method was proposed to study the postbuckling behaviour. Each panel is divided into two zones.

Numerical and Theoretical Modelling of the Web‐Post Buckling of Stainless Steel Cellular Beams

ce/papers, 2021
AbstractCellular steel beams are widely used in modern constructions to achieve long spans and to provide passage for service installations such as ducts and cables. The present paper is concerned with the use of stainless steel in cellular beams. In fact, available design methods to calculate the shear strength of web‐post are applicable only to ...

A Numerical Model for Post-Buckling Analysis of Composite Shear Webs

Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, 2010
This paper presents a detailed numerical investigation of the post-buckling behavior of composite shear webs using the finite element method. The numerical analysis accounts for material and geometric non-linearity effects and has been divided into three steps.

The evaluation of the previous models used to study the web post-buckling

International Journal of Steel Structures, 2017
The number of suggested and modified theories for web post-buckling behavior shows that this is one of the topics receiving much attention in civil engineering. However, the controversy related to the elusive behavior of web post-buckling is going on. The present study using an updated data set from 27 previous experimental shear tests and the current ...

Tension Wrinkling and Fluting in Heatset Web Offset Printing Process – Post-buckling Analyses

Trans. of the XIIIth Fund. Res. Symp. Cambridge, 2005, 2005
Geometrically non-linear, large scale post-buckling analyses were carried out to investigate the influence of different parameters on residual waviness (fluting) after printing in a heat set web offset printing press. Mixed implicit-explicit finite element techniques were used in the analyses.

Comparison on Calculation Method for Post-Buckling Strength of Thin-Webbed I-Shape Member

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
The thin-webbed I-shaped members are used as the basic members for beams and columns of steel buildings in order to increase utilization ratio of steel. The local buckling can occur for these members because of the large width-thickness ratio and these members have a substantial post-buckling strength which can be used.

Stiffened shear webs: post-buckling failure of stiffeners of less than critical rigidity

The Aeronautical Journal, 1979
The buckling coefficient for a conventional shear web, reinforced by a series of equally-spaced transverse stiffeners, is practically independent of the flexural rigidity of the stiffeners provided this exceeds a certain critical value. The stiffeners then provide conditions close to simple-support (if they are of negligible torsional stiffness).

An experimental and numerical analysis for the post-buckling behavior of composite shear webs

Composite Structures, 2011
This paper presents a detailed experimental and numerical investigation on the structural behavior of stiffened composite panels subjected to in-plane shear loads. The experimental work includes the development of a test device for post-buckling analyses of laminated panels subjected to shear loads.
