Derivation and Validation of a Predictive Model for Advanced Colorectal Neoplasia Among Average‐Risk Adults in China

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Efficient pre‐colonoscopy risk stratification tools are needed, especially in China. Using multicenter colorectal cancer screening data from Shandong Province, the authors developed and validated a risk prediction model for advanced colorectal neoplasia in asymptomatic individuals using sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle factors, and medical ...

Association between weight-adjusted-waist index and periodontitis risk: A cross-sectional study.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
BackgroundThere may be an association between obesity and periodontitis, yet no studies have investigated the correlation between the new obesity indicator, the weight-adjusted-waist Index (WWI), and periodontitis.ObjectiveThis study aims to investigate ...

Burden and Correlates of Multiple Chronic Infections and Their Associations With Cancer Incidence in Chinese Adults: A Large Case‐Cohort Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
While several oncogenic pathogens cause site‐specific cancers, uncertainties remain about many other chronic infections and combined pathogen effects, especially in non‐Western populations. Using a large case–cohort study nested within the China Kadoorie Biobank, the authors found that co‐infection was common, with a mean of 10 pathogens per individual.

The relationship between weight-adjusted-waist index and suicidal ideation: evidence from NHANES

open access: yesEating and Weight Disorders
Background Amidst growing evidence of the intricate link between physical and mental health, this study aims to dissect the relationship between the waist-to-weight index (WWI) and suicidal ideation within a representative sample of the US population ...

Rising Incidence and Mortality of Colorectal Cancer Among Younger Adults: A Population‐Based Study in Taiwan, 1994–2018

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Colorectal cancer incidence and mortality have increased in the Asia‐Pacific region over the past three decades. This population‐based study in Taiwan suggests a shift of the colorectal cancer burden towards the younger generations. An age–period–cohort model revealed higher annual increases in incidence (3.58%) and mortality (1.0%) rates among ...

Subclinical cardiac alterations and cardiometabolic profile in adolescents with newly diagnosed polycystic ovary syndrome: A cross‐sectional comparative echocardiographic study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective While cardiometabolic comorbidities have been well established in adults with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), it remains unclear whether the early signs of cardiovascular morbidity emerge during adolescence. This study aimed to investigate whether metabolic and cardiovascular alterations begin in adolescents with PCOS.

Associations of C‐Reactive Protein–Triglyceride–Glucose Index With the Incidence and Progression of Cardiometabolic Multimorbidity in Middle‐Aged and Older Chinese Individuals: A Prospective Cohort Study From CHARLS

open access: yesiLABMED, EarlyView.
This study investigated the association between C‐reactive protein‐triglyceride‐glucose index (CTI) and cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM) over a 9‐year follow‐up in a Chinese middle‐aged and older population. Higher CTI levels were significantly associated with an increased risk of CMM.

Comparison Between Respiratory‐Triggered and Free‐Breathing Signal Acquisition Methods for Single‐Voxel Phosphorus Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy of the Liver on a Clinical System

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The optimal protocol for clinical liver 31P‐magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) remains unclear. Single‐voxel 31P‐MRS using image‐selected in vivo spectroscopy (ISIS) employs respiratory‐triggering (RT) or free‐breathing (FB) acquisition.

Periodontitis and its association with left ventricular geometry and function: A cross‐sectional study

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study investigated the cross‐sectional association between periodontal status and left ventricular (LV) geometry and function, an early and prognostically relevant marker of cardiovascular disease. Methods Data were drawn from two population‐based cohorts in the Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP): SHIP‐START‐2 (N = 2333) and ...

Association between weight-adjusted waist index (WWI) and multimorbidity: Evidence from NHANES and prospective validation in CHARLS

open access: yesExperimental Gerontology
Background: The burden of chronic diseases is known to be significantly increased by obesity, yet conventional measures like waist circumference (WC) and body mass index (BMI) do not accurately capture central adiposity.
