Dependence of Weighted Kappa Coefficients on the Number of Categories
Epidemiology, 1996Weighted kappa coefficients are commonly used to quantify inter- or intra-rater reliability or test-retest reliability of ordinal ratings in clinical and epidemiologic applications. In this paper, we assess the dependence of weighted kappa coefficients on the number of categories and the type of weighting scheme, which vary between applications.

A Note on the Linearly and Quadratically Weighted Kappa Coefficients
Psychometrika, 2016The linearly and quadratically weighted kappa coefficients are popular statistics in measuring inter-rater agreement on an ordinal scale. It has been recently demonstrated that the linearly weighted kappa is a weighted average of the kappa coefficients of the embedded 2 by 2 agreement matrices, while the quadratically weighted kappa is insensitive to ...

The coefficient of variation: Weighting considerations
Social Indicators Research, 1984Some background notes on inequality indices are presented. Equality is seen not as a distribution in which each cell receives an equal share of a resource but as one in which each share is proportional to a criterion or weighting variable for the cell. Instances are noted where the coefficient of variation has been calculated without full consideration

Weighted DCT coefficient based text detection
2008 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2008This paper addresses text detection utilizing weighted discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients as a discrimination statistic. The sum of absolute value of DCT coefficients in each block is considered as an energy statistic for detection. Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) is conducted to calculate the optimal threshold.

A Weighted Concordance Correlation Coefficient for Repeated Measurement Designs
Biometrics, 1996The need to quantify agreement between two raters or two methods of measuring a response often arises in research. Kappa statistics (unweighted and weighted) are appropriate when the data are nominal or ordinal, whereas the concordance correlation coefficient is more appropriate when the data are measured on a continuous scale.

A note on Cohen’s weighted kappa coefficient of agreement with linear weights
Statistical Methodology, 2009Abstract Vanbelle and Albert [S. Vanbelle, A. Albert, A note on the linearly weighted kappa coefficient for ordinal scales, Statistical Methodology 6 (2008) 157–163] showed that the observed and expected proportions of agreement of a linearly weighted kappa for an r × r classification table are simply the mean values of the corresponding ...

A New Determining Objective Weights Method-Gini Coefficient Weight
2009 First International Conference on Information Science and Engineering, 2009The paper raises a new objective weighting method called Gini coefficient weight, which is based on the perspective of economic. This new method preferably reflects the volatility of single indexical information and difference degree. According to the comparatively of Gini coefficient weight method, the entropy weight method and standard deviation ...

Weighting the Coefficients in PARADISE Models to Increase Their Generalizability
2008For spoken dialog systems, PARADISE [Walker et al. 1997] provides a framework to train a user satisfaction prediction model on given data. The approach weights and sums interaction parameters to predict a satisfaction metric calculated from a questionnaire.
