Weight coefficients in the weighted least squares method

Numerical Analysis and Applications, 2015
Summary: We consider a problem of estimating some parameters of linear mathematical models. It is found that by choosing weight coefficients in the least squares method, one can obtain solutions by minimizing any penalty functions of a wide class, including Hölder norms.

Weighted Averaging Method For Evoked Potential: Determination Of Weighted Coefficients

Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 1992
The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) depends on the selection of weighted coefficients when weighted averaging is applied to estimate evoked potentials (EP's). In contrast to Hoke's method based on the consideration of the noise activity in one ensemble being evaluated in terms of statistics, we suggest that the output energy after weighted averaging can be

A New Determining Objective Weights Method-Gini Coefficient Weight

2009 First International Conference on Information Science and Engineering, 2009
The paper raises a new objective weighting method called Gini coefficient weight, which is based on the perspective of economic. This new method preferably reflects the volatility of single indexical information and difference degree. According to the comparatively of Gini coefficient weight method, the entropy weight method and standard deviation ...

CAMWI: Detecting protein complexes using weighted clustering coefficient and weighted density

Computational Biology and Chemistry, 2015
Detection of protein complexes is very important to understand the principles of cellular organization and function. Recently, large protein-protein interactions (PPIs) networks have become available using high-throughput experimental techniques. These networks make it possible to develop computational methods for protein complex detection. Most of the

Unilateral Weighted Jaccard Coefficient for NLP

2015 Fourteenth Mexican International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (MICAI), 2015
Similarity measures are essential to solve many pattern recognition problems such as classification, clustering, and retrieval problems. Various similarity measures are categorized in both syntactic and semantic relationships. In this paper we present a novel similarity, Unilateral Weighted Jaccard Coefficient (uwJaccard), which takes into ...

Weighted DCT coefficient based text detection

2008 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2008
This paper addresses text detection utilizing weighted discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients as a discrimination statistic. The sum of absolute value of DCT coefficients in each block is considered as an energy statistic for detection. Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) is conducted to calculate the optimal threshold.

”Placed-Stone” Jetty, Stone Weight Coefficients

Journal of the Waterways and Harbors Division, 1964
Hydraulic model tests and some field experience show that placing of armor stone in rubble-mound jetties with the long axis of each stone normal to the surface of the jetty will increase the life and effectiveness of the jetty. The model study demonstrated that when two layers of stones are placed with the long axes perpendicular to the length of the ...

A New Interpretation of the Weighted Kappa Coefficients

Psychometrika, 2016
AbstractReliability and agreement studies are of paramount importance. They do contribute to the quality of studies by providing information about the amount of error inherent to any diagnosis, score or measurement. Guidelines for reporting reliability and agreement studies were recently provided.
