Performance Capabilities of Long-Range UWB-IR TDOA Localization Systems

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2008
The theoretical and practical performance limits of a 2D ultrawideband impulse-radio localization system operating in the far field are studied under the assumption that estimates of location are based on time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) measurements ...

Different estimation methods for the generalized unit half-logistic geometric distribution: Using ranked set sampling

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
The generalized unit half-logistic geometric distribution (GUHLGD) is a modern two-parameter unit distribution with attractive shape flexibility for the corresponding probability density and hazard rate functions.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

A New Gain-Phase Error Pre-Calibration Method for Uniform Linear Arrays

open access: yesSensors, 2023
In this paper, we consider the gain-phase error calibration problem for uniform linear arrays (ULAs). Based on the adaptive antenna nulling technique, a new gain-phase error pre-calibration method is proposed, requiring only one calibration source with ...

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Algorithms and literate programs for weighted low-rank approximation with missing data

open access: yes, 2010
Linear models identification from data with missing values is posed as a weighted low-rank approximation problem with weights related to the missing values equal to zero.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Development of a new meshless — point weighted least-squares (PWLS) method for computational mechanics

open access: yes, 2004
A truly meshless approach, point weighted least-squares (PWLS) method, is developed in this paper. In the present PWLS method, two sets of distributed points are adopted, i.e. fields node and collocation point.
