CLARITY at the TREC 2011 microblog track [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
For the first year of the TREC Microblog Track the CLARITY group concentrated on a number of areas, investigating the underlying term weighting scheme for ranking tweets, incorporating query expansion to introduce new terms into the query, as well as ...

Robust Watermarking of Neural Network with Exponential Weighting [PDF]

open access: yesACM Asia Conference on Computer and Communications Security, 2019
Deep learning has been achieving top levels of performance in many tasks. However, since it is costly to train a deep learning model, neural network models must be treated as valuable intellectual properties.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Tilings With Very Elastic Dimers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We consider tiles (dimers) each of which covers two vertices of a rectangular lattice. There is a normalized translation invariant weighting on the shape of the tiles.

Optimal dataset combining in f_nl constraints from large scale structure in an idealised case

open access: yes, 2009
We consider the problem of optimal weighting of tracers of structure for the purpose of constraining the non-Gaussianity parameter f_NL. We work within the Fisher matrix formalism expanded around fiducial model with f_NL=0 and make several simplifying ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

The Impacts of Weighting Functions on the Robust Performance of a Multi-Axial Piezoelectric Stage

open access: yesInternational Journal of Automation and Smart Technology, 2013
This paper applies robust control strategies to a piezoelectric transducer (PZT) stage, and investigates the influences of weighting functions on the system performance.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Energy balancing of covariate distributions

open access: yesJournal of Causal Inference
Bias in causal comparisons has a correspondence with distributional imbalance of covariates between treatment groups. Weighting strategies such as inverse propensity score weighting attempt to mitigate bias by either modeling the treatment assignment ...

Biological Characteristics of Cell Similarity Measure

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, 2022
Similarity measures play an important role in many data analysis fields. However, the current cell similarity measures are poor used in data characteristics. Herein, a novel similarity measure named segment weighting similarity (SWS) is developed for the
