Stabilizing Frustrated Phase Transitions in Selective Oxidation Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Using multimodal operando spectromicroscopy, the frustrated phase transition responsible for selective oxidation over cobalt oxide spinel catalysts is identified, corresponding to combined surface reaction and Mars‐van Krevelen (MvK) dynamics. This regime is disrupted by the formation of mobile vacancies and the depletion of active oxygen at high ...

Analysis of arc behavior and weld forming in double-wire single-arc MAG welding controlled by longitudinal magnetic field

open access: yesHanjie xuebao
As a new type of high-efficiency welding process, the magnetically controlled double-wire single-arc MAG welding has poor arc controllability and is easily affected by external interference during the welding process.

Stimuli‐Responsive Afterglow from Luminescent Liquid Crystal Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An active glow luminescent system for encoding, signaling, and tracking in dark environments has been developed by integrating inorganic ultralong afterglow phosphors with adaptive liquid crystal elastomer actuators. Abstract Stimuli‐responsive luminescent polymeric materials which combine afterglow emission with mechanical flexibility and adaptability

Investigation on Friction Stir Welding Parameters: Mechanical Properties, Correlations and Corrosion Behaviors of Aluminum/Titanium Dissimilar Welds

open access: yesCrystals
In industrial applications, welding of dissimilar metals such as aluminum (Al) and titanium (Ti) is a prerequisite for the development of hybrid components with improved mechanical and corrosion properties. However, dissimilar welding of the Al/Ti system

N‐heterocyclic Carbenes as Adhesion Promoters on Aluminum Alloy 6061

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
N‐heterocyclic carbenes as novel non‐toxic surface primers for aluminum alloys for better adhesive bonding, because strong adhesive bonding shouldn't come at the cost of poisoning the human body. The impact of NHC functionalization on adhesive joint strength and durability is also evaluated using a single‐lap‐shear test, following continuous exposure ...

Combinatorial Screening for Europium Induced Defect Engineering in Titania Anodic Memristors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A Ti‐Eu thin‐film combinatorial libary (3‐17 at.% Eu) was fabricated by co‐sputtering and anodisation. Systematic screening revealed forming‐free memristors with analog switching, with compositions between 7‐17 at.% Eu showing improved endurance and multilevel resistive states.

Machine learning and molecular dynamics simulations aided insights into condensate ring formation in laser spot welding

open access: yesScientific Reports
Condensate ring formation can be used as a benchmark in welding processes to assess the efficiency and quality of the weld. Condensate formation is critical as the resulting condensate settles into the powder thereby altering the quality of ...
