Shuttle flight experiment preliminary proposal: Demonstration of welding applications in space [PDF]

open access: yes
In June 1991 work was initiated at MSFC on an end-effector for 'Robotic Assembly of Welded Truss Structures in Space'. The case for welded joint assembly on orbit was discussed in the 1991 SFFP Final Report 'D'.

XOR‐Logic Phase Coding Programmable Metasurface for Low Power‐Consumption Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By leveraging XOR logic, the biasing‐network complexity of 2D programmable metasurfaces is reduced from m×n to m+n through efficient row‐column control. This enables versatile functions including beam deflection and beamforming, facilitating applications in wireless communications and beyond.

The influence of welded joint quality on safety and reliability in operation

open access: yesProduction Engineering Archives, 2013
The quality of welded joint is an assumption of long-term reliability in operation. On the contrary, defective work of bad quality welded joint leads to fracture and crashes of plants.

Controlled Moderate Interfacial Reaction Facilitates High‐Strength Low‐Resistivity Barrier Layer for Half‐Heusler Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The barrier layer is designed comprehensively by thermal expansion coefficient and interfacial reaction energy to yield a controlled interfacial reaction. Ultimately, the Co25Fe50Ni25/half‐Heusler joint simultaneously achieves low contact resistivity and high bonding strength.

Double-sided friction stir welding of 2195 aluminum-lithium alloy

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng
Based on the response surface design, the optimal process parameters for single-side friction stir welding(FSW) of 2195 Al-Li alloy sheets are studied. It is found that the higher the rotation speed and the lower the welding speed, the higher the tensile
