Time frequency feature extraction of the arc energy for quality detection of the aluminum alloy double pulse MIG welding

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2020
In aluminum alloy double pulse metal inert-gas (DPMIG) welding, the outputting arc current waveform is distorted under the influence of various factors such as harmonics and impact loads. The arc distortion of aluminum alloy DPMIG welding affects the arc

Numerical modelling on the influence of repair welding during manufacturing on residual stresses and distortions of T-joints

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2023
Related to weld quality, level of imperfections is limited which can result in the need of grinding and repair welding. It results in material removal and additional heat cycles causing superimposed distortions and altering the distribution of residual ...

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Accuracy of computational welding mechanics methods for estimation of angular distortion and residual stresses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This study estimates the angular distortion and residual stresses due to welding using the following methodologies: thermo-elastic-plastic, inherent strain (local-global), and substructuring on two types of welded joints (T-type fillet weld and butt weld)

Prediction of numerical distortion after welding with various welding sequences and clampings

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2010
Welding simulation of a test cover for hydropower plant was made due to very large dimensions of the cover. The main aim was to predict distortion after welding in order to avoid machining the cover. Welding process was simulated with the Sysweld program

Welding Distortion Analysis of a Laser Welded Thin Box Structure [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Welding and Joining Society, 2007
Prediction and control of the thermal distortion is particularly important for the design and manufacture of welded thin metal structure. In this study, numerical computations are performed to analyze effect of structure section shape and weld line location on distortion. In addition, this study aims to develop a thermal elasto-plastic simulation using

Influence of Si Content and Milling Duration on the Microstructure and Mechanical–Tribological Properties of AlCoCrFeNiSi High‐Entropy Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Si‐doped AlCoCrFeNi high‐entropy alloys are synthesized by mechanical alloying to reveal the effect of Si content and milling time on phase evolution, microstructural refinement, and tribological behavior. A transition from FCC to BCC structure, significant grain refinement, and enhanced hardness and wear resistance are achieved, with the 4 at% Si ...
