Influence of Welding Sequence on Welding Deformation of T-Joint

2020
Aiming at carbon dioxide gas shielded welding of T-groove of low carbon steel sheets in ship compartments, three practical welding processes were simulated by welding software Simufact Welding, and the effect of welding sequence on welding deformation was studied.

Decreasing welding distortions in penetration nozzles by applying proper welding sequences

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2012
Welding distortions cause problems in assembly and performance of weldments, including nozzles in pressure vessels. In the present work, a three-dimensional thermo-mechanical finite element model was expanded to study the effect of the welding sequence on welding distortions in a pressurized nozzle.

Numerical Simulation of Welding Quality of Reinforcement Framework Under Different Welding Sequence

2021
The reinforcement framework is welded by the closed stirrup and the main reinforcement. The welding sequence of different welding points on the same stirrup has an important impact on the welding quality of the reinforcement framework. In order to optimize the welding sequence of reinforcement framework, the three-dimensional finite element model of ...

Influences of Welding Sequence on Residual Stress of Plate Butt Welding

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2010
For the plate butt welding of the same materials with different geometry structures, the numerical simulation was adopted to analyze the influences of welding sequence on transverse and longitudinal residual stress in the process of multi-layer and multi-pass welding.

Weld-Overlay Analyses: An Investigation of the Effect of Weld Sequencing

Volume 6: Materials and Fabrication, Parts A and B, 2008
The weld overlay process has been developed and applied to repair of nuclear reactor pipe girth welds for many years in BWR plants. The objectives of such repairs were to induce compressive axial residual stresses on the pipe inside surface, as well as increase the pipe thickness with a weld material that is not susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking.

Post Weld Overlay Residual Stresses in Dissimilar Metal Welds Considering Various Butt Weld and Weld Repair Fabrication Sequences

Volume 6: Materials and Fabrication, Parts A and B, 2009
Weld overlays have been used to repair or mitigate stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in both boiling water reactor (BWR) and pressurized water reactor (PWR) nozzle-to-pipe dissimilar metal welds (DMW). One of the contributing factors to SCC is the high tensile residual stresses produced during the fabrication of the original butt weld, especially when ...

The Influence of Welding Sequence on Welding Deformation of Sheet Metal Stamping

Key Engineering Materials, 2015
Connection process of welding has many characteristics, such as high efficiency, simple and low cost. The change of welding sequence makes the stress and welding deformation changed, so welding sequence has larger influences for welding deformation. The proper welding sequence is important to reduce the deformation of the workpiece, improve the process

Effect of welding sequences on residual stresses

Computers & Structures, 2003
Accurately predicting welding residual stresses and developing an available welding sequence for a weld system are pertinent tasks since welding residual stress is inevitably produced in a welded structure. This study analyzes the thermomechanical behavior and evaluates the residual stresses with various types of welding sequence in single-pass, multi ...

Heuristics for single-pass welding task sequencing

International Journal of Production Research, 2002
Welding task sequencing is a prerequisite in the offline programming of robot arc welding. Single-pass welding task sequencing can be modelled as a modified travelling salesman problem. Owing to the difficulty of the resulting arc-routing problems, effective local search heuristics are developed.

Impact of Welding Sequence on the CRDM Nozzle-to-Vessel Weld Stress Analysis

Flaw Evaluation, Service Experience, and Materials for Hydrogen Service, 2004
A three-dimensional finite element model is presented to simulate the welding process of the side-hill control-rod-drive-mechanism (CRDM) nozzle to the vessel head. Emphasis is given to how the weld is laid out in the analysis so that accurate residual stress results can be obtained while the required computing time is viable.
