CO2 laser welding of aluminum air spacers for insulated windows
ICALEO '82: Proceedings of the Materials Processing Symposium, 1982Roll-formed aluminum or steel shapes are used as air spacers to separate glass in insulated windows. Industry required better product to provide possibility of automated handling of air spacer frames. Industrial carbon dioxide laser system was developed to weld the butted edges of the roll-formed shapes at speeds of 100 meters a minute or more.
