Management of heat in laser tissue welding using NIR cover window material

Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, 2011
AbstractBackgroundLaser tissue welding (LTW) is a novel method of surgical wound closure by the use of laser radiation to induce fusion of the biological tissues. Molecular dynamics associated with LTW is a result of thermal and non‐thermal mechanisms.ObjectivesThis research focuses exclusively on better heat management to reduce thermal damage of ...

Underwater Explosive Welding, Discussion Based on Weldable Window

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2006
A new method of underwater explosive welding is introduced and its possibilities are suggested. In the underwater explosive welding, a high explosive with detonation velocity of 7km/s is placed at an initial inclined angle to decrease the horizontal collision point velocity, which is one of the important parameters to achieve welding.

Non-vacuum electron beam welding through a plasma window

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2005
Abstract The plasma window is a novel apparatus that utilizes a stabilized plasma arc as interface between vacuum and atmosphere or pressurized targets without solid material. Additionally, the plasma has a lensing effect on charged particles. This feature enables beam focusing to very small spot sizes and overcoming beam dispersion due to scattering

Process Window for Nd:YAG Laser Welding of Super Duplex Stainless Steel

Journal of Russian Laser Research, 2018
Super duplex stainless steel (SDSS), an advanced duplex stainless steel with higher alloying concentration, is employed widely in acidic atmospheres. In this study, we make an attempt to develop a process window for the pulsed mode Nd:YAG laser welding of SDSS, as reference maps, to identify the range of process parameters viz., laser power, welding ...

Additive manufacturing: the role of welding in this window of opportunity

Welding International, 2016
AbstractAdditive manufacturing (AM) can be considered as an evolution from rapid prototyping as it allows us to manufacture a component from a computer file (CAD 3D), though its applications extrapolate the production of prototypes. This technique involves the layered design of a component and subsequent welding deposition of the multilayer structure ...

CO2 laser welding of aluminum air spacers for insulated windows

ICALEO '82: Proceedings of the Materials Processing Symposium, 1982
Roll-formed aluminum or steel shapes are used as air spacers to separate glass in insulated windows. Industry required better product to provide possibility of automated handling of air spacer frames. Industrial carbon dioxide laser system was developed to weld the butted edges of the roll-formed shapes at speeds of 100 meters a minute or more.

DEVELOPMENT OF WELDING WINDOW FOR UNDERWATER AL – STEEL EXPLOSIVE CLADDING

Journal of Manufacturing Engineering
This study attempted analytical estimation of the welding domain for underwater explosive cladding of aluminium (Al 5052) - stainless steel (SS304). A welding window, an analytical estimation, can ascertain whether the interface is wavy-like or otherwise.

Development of friction stir spot welding windows for dissimilar Al5086/C10100 spot joints

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2018
Abstract In this paper, an attempt was made to develop process operation limit diagrams in the form of friction stir spot welding windows for obtaining good quality dissimilar Al 5086/ C10100 joints. The two dissimilar 1.5 mm thick plates were friction stir spot welded using non-consumable tool made of H13 material.

Design of Electron Beam Welding Vacuum Chamber for Collar Rings in CFETR Windows

Journal of Fusion Energy, 2017
China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor window collar has a very complex three-dimensional structure, because of its large size, in the window and collar welding cannot be completed after the overall processing, therefore, requires that the welding ring has deformation of small, high precision welding, and reliable welding quality.
