Thermal‐Hydraulic Assessment of W7‐X Plasma Vessel Venting System in Case of 40 mm In‐Vessel LOCA
This paper presents assessment of the capacity of W7‐X venting system in response to in‐vessel LOCA, rupture of 40 mm diameter pipe during operation mode “baking.” The integral analysis of the coolant release from the cooling system, pressurisation of PV, and response of the venting system is performed using RELAP5 code.

Real-Time Detection of Overloads on the Plasma-Facing Components of Wendelstein 7-X
Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) is the leading experiment on the path of demonstrating that stellarators are a feasible concept for a future power plant. One of its major goals is to prove quasi-steady-state operation in a reactor-relevant parameter regime.

Long‐Term Photovoltaic System Performance in Cold, Snowy Climates
We review degradation rates of photovoltaic systems located in cold humid continental, subarctic, and tundra climates and analyze three new photovoltaic systems > 60° N in Alaska and Canada with each with between 5 and 16 years of data. Overall, PV systems located in cold climates have a median degradation rate of −0.33%/year.

Turbulence-reduced high-performance scenarios in Wendelstein 7-X
In the Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) stellarator, turbulence is the dominant transport mechanism in most discharges. This leads to a ‘clamping’ of ion temperature over a wide range of heating power, predominantly flat density profiles where hollow profiles ...

Full-flux-surface effects on electrostatic turbulence in Wendelstein 7-X-like plasmas
We present the first nonlinear, gyrokinetic, surface-global simulations of a Wendelstein 7-X-like stellarator with kinetic electrons. As a first application, we investigate the interplay between Ion Temperature Gradient (ITG) and Trapped Electron Mode ...

Modeling resistive-inductive evolution of currents in Wendelstein 7-X
This research investigates the temporal evolution of the toroidal plasma current in the Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) stellarator under different heating, fueling, and current drive scenarios.

Abstract We introduce a fast and invertible approximation for fusion plasma simulation data represented as 2D planar meshes with connectivities approximating magnetic field lines along the toroidal dimension in deformed 3D toroidal spaces. Scientific variables (e.g., density and temperature) in these fusion data are interpolated following a complex ...
