Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part A: Journal of Power and Energy, 2013
In the Institute of Thermal Turbomachinery (ITSM) at Stuttgart University, a three-stage model steam turbine was used to study the complex steam flow through the last stages of low pressure steam turbines. The conditions in this test rig were such that condensation occurred after the first stage, so that wet steam was prevalent in the last stage.

Heat and Mass Transfer, 2019
Steam-assisted-gravity-drainage (SAGD) has been proved effective in heavy oil recovery. Preheating of the wellbore-surrounding reservoir is to circulate steam in the injector and producer so that heat can be conducted into surrounding oil layer. At this stage, the amount of steam injected into the reservoir is neglected.

An Estimation of Wetness Losses for Nuclear Steam Turbines Using Simplified 1D-2D Models
Volume 10: Steam Turbine, 2023Abstract This paper presents a methodology to estimate wetness losses for steam turbines using simplified models. Several 1D solvers are used to evaluate the steam flow field and the droplet nucleation and growth. The results are used as input data for another 2D solver to calculate droplet trajectories, liquid films on blades and ...

Numerical Study on Typical Wet Steam Flow Based on a New Two-Fluid Model
Volume 8: Microturbines, Turbochargers and Small Turbomachines; Steam Turbines, 2015A new two-fluid model with the influence of inter-phase velocity-slip taken into account was proposed and a modified realizable k-ε turbulence model was put forward as well to make the equation set of two-fluid model closed. Based on this two-fluid model, numerical simulations were conducted on typical wet steam flow in different cases.

Anisotropic modelling of tube bundle flow during steam generator wet layup
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1982Abstract Tube bundle flow can be considered as a porous medium flow and a fluid continuum can be established by introducing the porosity which is a ratio of fluid volume to total volume. Darcy's flow regime applies for the tube bundle flow of low Reynolds number during steam generator wet layup circulation.

TRANSIENT COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS MODELING OF WET STEAM IN A PIPING SYSTEM
2023The U.S. Navy’s current design of steam pipe systems onboard ships is based upon conservative estimates of moisture presence. To increase efficiency while maintaining a safe system, an analysis was done on one section of the piping system. The focus of this research was to determine the location and quantity of excess moisture accumulation to inform ...
