Enzymatic Remodelling of Tumour Microenvironment Enhances Anti‐CEACAM5 CAR T‐Cell Efficacy Against Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows anti‐CEACAM5 CAR T‐cells are ineffective against colorectal cancer (CRC) because of CEACAM5 sequestration at intercellular junctions and the thick tumour cell glycocalyx. Enzymatic treatments of CRC cell monolayer/tissue section with trypsin or hyaluronidase restore CEACAM5 availability, enhance CAR T‐cell activation, increase ...

Association Mapping for Common Bunt Resistance in Wheat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Common bunt, caused by Tilletia caries and T. foetida, is a fungal disease of wheat world wide. Infection, occurring via seed borne teliospores, is generally controlled by the application of seed treatments prior to sowing.

CDK4/6 Inhibition Induces CD8+ T Cell Antitumor Immunity via MIF‐Induced Functional Orchestration of Tumor‐Associated Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CDK4/6 inhibition promotes CD8+ T cell expansion through tumor‐macrophage crosstalk by activating HIF‐1α and enhancing MIF‐CD44/CD74 signaling. This reprograms TAMs to boost MHC‐I antigen presentation, and CDK4/6 inhibitor‐trained M1 TAM supernatant therapy synergizes with low‐dose PD‐1 blockade to restore antitumor immunity.

Precision Editing of NLRS Improves Effector Recognition for Enhanced Disease Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Precision engineering of plant NLR immune receptors enables rational design of enhanced pathogen resistance through mismatched pairing, domain swapping, and targeted mutagenesis. These approaches achieve multi‐fold expansion in recognition breadth while minimizing autoimmunity risks and fitness penalties.

Organic Winter Wheat Planting Date Trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In 2013, the University of Vermont Extension Northwest Crops and Soils Program conducted a winter wheat planting date trial. As the demand for local organic wheat has risen over the last few years, UVM Extension has been trying to determine the best ...

Adverse Reactions to Wheat or Wheat Components

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, 2019
Abstract Wheat is an important staple food globally, providing a significant contribution to daily energy, fiber, and micronutrient intake. Observational evidence for health impacts of consuming more whole grains, among which wheat is a major contributor, points to significant risk reduction for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and ...

Modulating Purothionin Accumulation and Signal Peptide Cleavage Fine‐Tunes Wheat Flour Gluten Properties to Improve Cookie‐Making Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dual genetic strategies for improving wheat processing quality by regulating purothionin accumulation to modulate gluten quantity and quality. The first strategy involves targeting signal peptide (SP) cleavage sites (e.g., through mutation) to indirectly reduce gluten content, thereby disrupting gluten network formation.

Bacteriophage‐Mimetic DNA Origami Needle for Targeted Membrane Penetration and Cytosolic Cargo Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We designed a synthetic DNA origami needle‐like structure inspired by bacteriophages for targeted drug delivery. Functionalized with trastuzumab antibodies, cholesterol, and dyes, it selectively targets SKBR3 cancer cells. A glutathione‐triggered dye payload enables controlled release, and delivery is verified using confocal microscopy and live cell ...

The Gut Microbiota Regulates Motor Deficits via Butyrate in a Gnal+/− Mouse Model of DYT25 Dystonia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The present study provides compelling evidence for a modulatory role of the gut microbiota in the pathology of DYT25 dystonia, and butyrate supplementation alleviates the motor deficits of dystonia in Gnal+/− mice. Abstract Dystonia is the third most common movement disorder, following essential tremor and Parkinson's disease. The underlying mechanisms
