Influence of Solar Activity on State of Wheat Market in Medieval England [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The database of Prof. Rogers (1887), which includes wheat prices in England in the Middle Ages, was used to search for a possible influence of solar activity on the wheat market. We present a conceptual model of possible modes for sensitivity of wheat prices to weather conditions, caused by solar cycle variations, and compare expected price ...

Comparative Transcriptome Analysis Reveals Hormone Signal Transduction and Sucrose Metabolism Related Genes Involved in the Regulation of Anther Dehiscence in Photo-Thermo-Sensitive Genic Male Sterile Wheat

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2022
Anther dehiscence is an important process to release pollen and then is a critical event in pollination. In the wheat photo-thermo-sensitive genic male sterility (PTGMS) line, pollen cannot release from anther since the anther cannot dehisce during ...

Cytomolecular identification of individual wheat-wheat chromosome arm associations in wheat-rye hybrids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Chromosome pairing in the meiotic metaphase I of wheatrye hybrids has been characterized by sequential genomic and fluorescent in situ hybridization allowing not only the discrimination of wheat and rye chromosomes, but also the identification of the

UDP‐glucose dehydrogenase variants cause dystroglycanopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract UDP‐glucose dehydrogenase (UGDH) variants have been associated with hypotonia, developmental delay, and epilepsy. We report the first pathologic evidence of dystroglycanopathy in siblings with UGDH variants. Both presented around 6 months with developmental delay and elevated creatinine kinase.

Grain number responses to pre-anthesis dry matter and nitrogen in improving wheat yield in the Huang-Huai Plain

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Wheat yield components vary between different ecological regions and yield levels. Grain number responses to pre-anthesis dry matter (DM) and nitrogen (N) in increasing yield were always investigated in spike organs, neglecting the effect of non-spike ...

Bread winter wheat breeding (Triticum aestivum L.) using spring varieties genepool in forest-steppe Environments of Ukraine

open access: yesPlant Varieties Studying and Protection, 2010
It is concluded by investigations that wheat crossing of various development types between themselves cause increase of formbuilding process in hybrid progeny, promoting the selection of practically valuable recombinats.

Genetic Dissection of Resistance to Gray Leaf Spot by Combining Genome-Wide Association, Linkage Mapping, and Genomic Prediction in Tropical Maize Germplasm

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
Gray leaf spot (GLS) is one of the major maize foliar diseases in sub-Saharan Africa. Resistance to GLS is controlled by multiple genes with additive effect and is influenced by both genotype and environment.
