Assessment of rice genotypes for susceptibility to sheath blight disease caused by Rhizoctonia solani AG1-IA

open access: yesFundamental and Applied Agriculture, 2021
Rice crop endures several biotic stresses among which sheath blight is one of the devastating diseases. This disease is caused by necrotrophic fungus Rhizoctonia solani AG1 IA that reduces 20 to 40% yield. Forty two diverse rice germplasms were evaluated

A Kosloff/Basal method, 3D migration program implemented on the CYBER 205 supercomputer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Conventional finite difference migration has relied on approximations to the acoustic wave equation which allow energy to propagate only downwards. Although generally reliable, such approaches usually do not yield an accurate migration for geological ...

Rod‐shaped Polymerized Salicylic Acid Particles Modulate Neutrophil Transendothelial Migration in Acute Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Rod‐shaped particles outperform spherical particles of the same volume in preventing neutrophil infiltration to inflamed areas, both in vitro and in vivo. This therapeutic effectiveness is attributed to better cell targeting and decreased cell motility, resulting from the geometry‐driven phagocytosis and inhibited actin polymerization.

An In-field Automatic Wheat Disease Diagnosis System [PDF]

open access: yesComputers and Electronics in Agriculture, 142PA (2017): 369-379, 2017
Crop diseases are responsible for the major production reduction and economic losses in agricultural industry world- wide. Monitoring for health status of crops is critical to control the spread of diseases and implement effective management. This paper presents an in-field automatic wheat disease diagnosis system based on a weakly super- vised deep ...

Ancient Wheat Species Can Extend Biodiversity of Cultivated Crops [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Wheat genetic resources may be grown in organic farming systems or in less favourable areas for bread wheat species. Characteristics of hulled wheat species (23 varieties of einkorn, emmer wheat, spelt wheat) were studied and evaluated within a two-year ...

The economics of irrigating wheat in a humid climate - A study in the East of England [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In the UK, wheat is the most important cultivated cereal, grown extensively as a rainfed crop. Irrigation of wheat has previously been considered uneconomic, but increases in world wheat prices and recent droughts have led to some farmers revising their ...

A Bio‐Inspired Perspective on Materials Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This perspective discusses natural materials as inspiration for sustainable engineering designs and the processing of materials. First, circularity, longevity, parsimony, and activity are presented as essential material paradigms. The perspective then uses many examples of natural and technical materials to introduce principles such as oligo ...

Effects of stocking density on the performance of lettuce (Lactuca sativa) in small‐scale lettuce‐Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus L.) aquaponic system

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 2, Issue 6, Page 458-469, December 2022., 2022
Graphical Abstract : Aquaponics, hydroponics, stocking density. Abstract Aquaponics incorporates aquaculture with hydroponics, whose principles and operations largely remain untested. Currently, there is a knowledge gap on the performance of aquaponic systems used for fish production under different stocking densities.
