Allylation and Thermosetting of Acetosolv Wheat Straw Lignin. [PDF]

open access: yesChemSusChem
AbstractThe acetosolv extraction, allylation and subsequent cross‐linking of wheat straw lignin to thermoset biomaterials is herein described. The extraction temperature proved to be of great importance for the quality of the resulting lignin, with moderate temperature being key for preservation of β‐O‐4’ linkages.

WHEAT STRAW AS RAW MATERIAL FOR MANUFACTURE OF STRAW MDF

open access: yesBioResources, 2010
Wheat straw was used to produce medium-density fiberboard (MDF). The chemical and physical characteristics of fractionated size-reduced wheat straw were investigated.

Tillage in Combination with Rice Straw Retention in a Rice–Wheat System Improves the Productivity and Quality of Wheat Grain through Improving the Soil Physio-Chemical Properties

open access: yesLand, 2022
In order to study the contribution of long-term tillage and rice straw management practices on wheat yield and soil properties in a rice–wheat system, a field study was conducted with seven main plot treatments as straw management practices, i.e ...

Properties of lightweight pedestrian paving blocks incorporating wheat straw: Micro-to macro-scale investigation

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2022
This study elucidates the manufacture of lightweight pedestrian paving blocks (LPPB) by partially substituting sand with wheat straw fibres. Sodium silicate was used to treat wheat straw fibres before their integration into the mixtures.

Pyrolysis of wheat and barley straw [PDF]

open access: yesResearch in Agricultural Engineering, 2020
Pyrolysing agricultural crop residues and other biomass constitutes a newer method of transforming often difficult, waste materials into a novel type of soil amendment/additive. Simultaneously, this process also makes it possible to exploit part of the energy released in the agricultural production.

Effect of different straw retention techniques on soil microbial community structure in wheat–maize rotation system

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2023
Rotational straw return technique is considered an effective measure for improving soil quality and maintaining soil microorganisms. However, there are few reports on the influence of wheat–maize crop rotation and straw-returning tillage on crop soil ...

Effects of wheat straw particle size as a free-choice provision on growth performance and feeding behaviors of dairy calves

open access: yesAnimal, 2021
In the dairy calf feeding, supplementation of forage to the starter feed is commonly practiced. However, data are insufficient about how changes in particle size (PS) of forage affect calf performance and behavior in a free-choice forage provision system.

THE INVESTIGATION OF POLY LACTIC ACID /WHEAT STRAW FIBERS TREATED WITH SILANE COMPOSITES [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات علوم چوب و کاغذ ایران, 2015
In this paper, poly lactic acid (PLA)/ wheat straw fibers manufactured by twin screw extruder and molding compression have been studied. Wheat straw fibers were treated with trietoxymethel silane for better compatibility between two phases.

Photosynthetic Physiological Basis of No Tillage with Wheat Straw Returning to Improve Maize Yield with Plastic Film Mulching in Arid Irrigated Areas

open access: yesPlants, 2023
Surface mulch is an efficient plant production technique widely used in arid and water-scarce areas. In this study, a field experiment was conducted to determine whether plastic film combined with wheat straw returning could boost grain yield of maize ...
