Whispering Gallery‐Mode Microdroplet Tensiometry [PDF]
Droplets are ideally suited to support high‐Q‐factor whispering gallery modes (WGMs) due to their perfectly smooth surface. WGMs enable extremely precise measurements of the droplet properties such as size and shape.

Whispering Gallery Mode Thermometry [PDF]
This paper presents a state-of-the-art whispering gallery mode (WGM) thermometer system, which could replace platinum resistance thermometers currently used in many industrial applications, thus overcoming some of their well-known limitations and their potential for providing lower measurement uncertainty.

Whispering gallery mode sensors [PDF]
We present a comprehensive overview of sensor technology exploiting optical whispering gallery mode (WGM) resonances. After a short introduction we begin by detailing the fundamental principles and theory of WGMs in optical microcavities and the transduction mechanisms frequently employed for sensing purposes.

Whispering gallery modes of a triatomic photonic molecule
In this paper, we present the results of numerical simulations of the optical spectra of a three-sphere photonic molecule. The configuration of the system was continuously modified from linear to triangular, in-plane with the fundamental mode excited in ...

Effects of Nanocylinders on the Whispering Gallery Modes in a Microcylinder. [PDF]
Optical biosensors have been studied extensively for the detection and characterization of biological entities, such as viruses, bacteria, and biomolecules. A two-dimensional (2D) microcylinder resonator ( Q ∼ 2 × 10 5 ) was designed, and the effects of a nanocylinder on the whispering gallery modes (WGMs) were examined numerically.
