Whispering gallery mode-based magnetometer

We demonstrate a compact all-optical magnetic sensor based on whispering gallery modes in a photonic crystal fiber infiltrated with ferrofluid. We achieve a sensitivity of ∼0.18 pm/μT and a resolution of ∼222 nT.

Conical whispering gallery mode resonator

Novel type of the whispering gallery mode resonator is proposed. Dependence of eigen frequency, quality factors, filling factor of conducting endplate and electric field distribution on a slope angle of the generatrix of Teflon cone lying on a conducting plate are experimentally investigated in K/sub a/-band.

Whispering gallery mode optical gyroscope

Using an optical whispering gallery mode calcium fluoride resonator with 1 cm diameter and 0.2 mm thickness we have demonstrated experimentally a prototype of a passive gyroscope characterized with 0.03 deg/hr1/2 angle random walk and 2 deg/hr bias drift.
