Whispering gallery mode-based magnetometer
CLEO: 2015, 2015We demonstrate a compact all-optical magnetic sensor based on whispering gallery modes in a photonic crystal fiber infiltrated with ferrofluid. We achieve a sensitivity of ∼0.18 pm/μT and a resolution of ∼222 nT.

Conical whispering gallery mode resonator
2005 European Microwave Conference, 2005Novel type of the whispering gallery mode resonator is proposed. Dependence of eigen frequency, quality factors, filling factor of conducting endplate and electric field distribution on a slope angle of the generatrix of Teflon cone lying on a conducting plate are experimentally investigated in K/sub a/-band.

Whispering Gallery Modes at THz
Advanced Optical Materials, 2019AbstractWhispering gallery modes (WGM) offer strong confinement of electromagnetic radiation to specific resonances supported by the geometry of the resonator. In fact, highest ever quality factors are reported in optical and near‐infrared WGMs along with their applications.

Whispering gallery mode optical gyroscope
2016 IEEE International Symposium on Inertial Sensors and Systems, 2016Using an optical whispering gallery mode calcium fluoride resonator with 1 cm diameter and 0.2 mm thickness we have demonstrated experimentally a prototype of a passive gyroscope characterized with 0.03 deg/hr1/2 angle random walk and 2 deg/hr bias drift.

Enhanced whispering gallery mode sensors
Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) Sensing XIX, 2018Optical whispering gallery mode (WGM) biochemical sensors operate by tracking changes in resonant frequency as materials enter the evanescent near-field of the resonator. To achieve the smallest limit of detection, it is desirable for WGM sensors to exhibit as large a frequency shift as possible for a material of a given size and refractive index, as ...

Whispering Gallery Mode Biomolecular Sensors
2014Optical resonator-based biosensors are emerging as one of the most sensitive microsystem biodetection technology that boasts all of the capabilities for a next-generation lab-on-chip device: label-free detection down to single molecules, multiplexed sensing capability, operation in aqueous environment as well as cost-effective integration on microchips.
