Lupin Species and Protein Fraction Type Affect the Conformational State and Functional Performance of the Proteins

open access: yesSustainable Food Proteins, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2026.
Defatted white and blue lupin seed flours were each sequentially fractionated into albumin, globulin, and glutelin followed by structure and function evaluation. The albumins had the best solubility profile, globulins produced emulsions with smallest oil droplet sizes, while glutelins had the highest foaming capacity.

White Lupin as a Protein Source for Layers

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1987
Three feeding experiments were conducted with Single Comb White Leghorn hens to determine the effects of Lupinus albus cv. Ultra on performance. Raw, autoclaved, and extruded lupins were fed at 10 and 20% of the diet for 12 wk in Experiment 1. In Experiment 2 raw and extruded lupins were fed at 10, 15, 20, and 25% of the diet for 16 wk.

Do Short‐Term Legume–Maize Sequences Outperform Maize Monoculture Regarding Biomass Production and P Use Efficiency Under P‐Restricted Conditions?

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, Volume 189, Issue 2, Page 276-286, April 2026.
In a short‐term pot experiment, three legume‐based crop rotations are being tested for their effects on the P cycle and P use efficiency compared to maize monoculture. Legume‐based crop rotations stimulate the P cycle by increasing acid phosphatase activity and carboxylate exudation.

Prüfung von Zuchtlinien der Weißen Lupine (Lupinus albus L.) auf Anthraknoseresistenz [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
White lupin (Lupinus albus L.) is a protein plant adapted to the conditions of middle Europe. Presently, no variety with a sufficient resistance to anthracnose, caused by Colletotrichum lupini, is available, and cultivation of white lupins in Germany has

Kinetics of mercury uptake by oilseed rape and white lupin: Influence of Mn and Cu [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The final publication is available at Springer via http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11738-013-1253-6Mercury influx in oilseed rape and white lupin was studied using short time influx experiments. The effect of Cu and Mn in Hg influx was also tested.

Factors Influencing Undesirable Sensory Properties in Protein Hydrolysates and Remediation Strategies for Food Applications

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Enzymatic hydrolysis is used to produce protein hydrolysates from animal‐ and plant‐based sources, which are widely utilized in industry due to their nutritional, functional, and bioactive properties. However, these hydrolysates can exhibit unattractive sensory properties, such as off‐flavors or off‐odors, which limit their use in food ...

Burden of Obesity in India: Need for Policy Changes to Attain Highest Possible Level of Health and Well‐Being

open access: yesClinical Obesity, Volume 16, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The rise in obesity rates in India in the past 3–4 decades is alarming and obesity management needs transformation. A significant barrier is that obesity is often viewed in India as a lifestyle condition rather than a chronic disease, despite broad international recognition of this status.
