Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) based assessment of white matter fiber tract integrity can support the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The use of DTI as a biomarker, however, depends on its applicability in a multicenter setting accounting for ...

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Decrease in the Volume of White Matter Lesions with Improvement of Hepatic Encephalopathy [PDF]
MR imaging has found abnormalities compatible with low-grade edema in the brain of patients with cirrhosis that have been related to hepatic encephalopathy. We present 3 patients with hepatic encephalopathy who exhibit supratentorial focal or diffuse white matter lesions compatible with small-vessel brain disease.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) were analyzed to detect ESR1 mutations and methylation in patients with advanced breast cancer. CTC‐derived DNA showed higher sensitivity for mutation detection and revealed complementary genetic and epigenetic alterations, highlighting the added value of CTC analysis for understanding ...

White matter volume in alcohol use disorders: a meta‐analysis [PDF]
ABSTRACTAtrophy of brain white matter (WM) often is considered a signature injury of alcohol use disorders (AUDs). However, investigations into AUD‐related changes in WM volume have yielded complex findings that are difficult to synthesize in a narrative review.
