KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Mycin and peptin lipopeptides are major contributors to the biocontrol of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum by Pseudomonas mediterranea

open access: yesBiological Control
The fungal pathogen Sclerotinia sclerotiorum is the causal agent of the white mold disease in several economically important crops. Control methods are currently limited to the use of synthetic fungicides and resistance to these fungicides is increasing.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Control of Anthracnose and Gray Mold in Pepper Plants Using Culture Extract of White-Rot Fungus and Active Compound Schizostatin

open access: yesMycobiology, 2019
Fungi produce various secondary metabolites that have beneficial and harmful effects on other organisms. Those bioactive metabolites have been explored as potential medicinal and antimicrobial resources.

Breeding Common Bean for Resistance to White Mold: A Review

open access: yesCrop Science, 2013
ABSTRACTUnder favorable weather conditions white mold causes 100% loss of yield and quality of susceptible common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivars. The disease is endemic and widespread in North and South American countries including the United States, Canada, Argentina, and Brazil.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Genome-Wide Association Mapping for Traits Relevant to Sclerotia Production by the Necrotrophic Fungal Pathogen Sclerotinia sclerotiorum

open access: yesPhytoFrontiers
The fungal pathogen Sclerotinia sclerotiorum causes substantial economic damage to agriculture in the United States and globally. This pathogen can infect an unusually broad range of plant hosts, including many economically important crop species.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Micobiota parasitária de escleródios de Sclerotinia sclerotiorum isolada de solos da fronteira oeste do Rio Grande do Sul

open access: yesArquivos do Instituto Biológico
