Decay Resistance of Carbonized Wood Surfaces
In this study, decay resistance of carbonized wood surfaces by combustion method was examined. In this context either single or five geometrical surfaces of Scots pine and beech wood specimens were carbonized and exposed toConiophora puteana(brown rot ...

Lignin peroxidase is one of a series of enzymes involved in lignin degradation and is secreted by white-rot fungi. However, white-rot fungi have a long growth cycle and low enzyme activity, which limits their application.

Syringic Acid Metabolism by Some White-rot, Soft-rot and Brown-rot Fungi [PDF]
Syringic acid metabolism by four white-rot, two soft-rot, and two brown-rot fungi has been studied. The pathways for syringic acid metabolism have been studied in detail for the white-rot fungus,Sporotrichum pulverulentum, and a reaction sequence proposed.

A Fungal Secretome Adapted for Stress Enabled a Radical Wood Decay Mechanism
Brown rot fungi release massive amounts of carbon from forest deadwood, particularly at high latitudes. These fungi degrade wood by generating small reactive oxygen species (ROS) to loosen lignocellulose, to then selectively remove carbohydrates. The ROS

Responses to and detoxification of esculin in white-rot fungi
Plant metabolites have a great potential for limiting the spread of harmful fungi. However, a better understanding of the mode-of-action of these molecules and the defense systems developed by fungi to resist them, is needed to assess the benefits/risks of using them as antifungal treatment. White-rot fungi are excellent models in this respect, as they

Selection of white-rot fungi for biopulping
Abstract Different rates of wood decay and ligninolytic activity were found in wood decayed by various white-rot fungi. Chemical and ultrastructural analyses showed wood decayed by Coriolus versicolor consisted of a nonselective attack on all cell wall components.

Stabilization of lignin peroxidases in white rot fungi by tryptophan [PDF]
Supplementation of various cultures of white rot fungi with tryptophan was found to have a large stimulatory effect on lignin peroxidase activity levels. This enhancement was greater than that observed in the presence of the lignin peroxidase recycling agent veratryl alcohol.

Studies were carried-out on the ability of 18 strains of 15 white-rot and brown-rot basidiomycetons fungi to degrade wood components and to synthesize cellulolytic enzymes and laccase.

Comparative Assessment of Antifungal Potential of Clove (Eugenia caryophyllata) and Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) Essential Oils [PDF]
The paper refers to the comparative evaluation of the potential antifungal effect of two essential oils: clove (Eugenia caryophyllata) essential oil and cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) essential oil, against a brown rot fungus (Postia placenta) and a white

Bioactivity of ethanol extracts from Eucalyptus bosistoana F. Muell. heartwood
Variability in bioactivity and chemical composition of Eucalyptus bosistoana F. Muell. heartwood extracts between individual trees from two different sites were investigated. Combining the results of fungal assays and quantitative gas chromatography (GC)
