Effects of vitamin A on carcass and meat quality of broilers

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2021
: This study evaluated the level and length of time of vitamin A supplementation and its effects on carcass and cuts yield, meat quality, and myopathies in 42-day-old broilers.

A Spin Modulated Telescope to Make Two Dimensional CMB Maps [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We describe the HEMT Advanced Cosmic Microwave Explorer (HACME), a balloon borne experiment designed to measure sub-degree scale Cosmic Microwave Background anisotropy over hundreds of square degrees, using a unique two dimensional scanning strategy.

Wooden-Breast, White Striping, and Spaghetti Meat: Causes, Consequences and Consumer Perception of Emerging Broiler Meat Abnormalities.

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, 2019
Ten years ago, the occurrence of macroscopic defects in breasts muscles from fast-growing broilers challenged producers and animal scientists to label and characterize myopathies wholly unknown.

White-Scalapino-like stripes in a mean-field Hubbard model [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2001
A mean field calculation of the Hubbard model finds a rich phase diagram. The antiferromagnetic phase is generally unstable away from half filling, and there are several regions of phase separation. One solution in particular closely resembles the stripe phase of White and Scalapino.

Quality of breast meat from broiler chickens raised in Brazil affected by white striping myopathy

open access: yes, 2021
The aim of this study was to characterize the breast meat from broilers affected by the white striping myopathy and examine its influence on meat quality. 180 breast samples from male broilers, slaughtered at 42-d-old, were used.

Short cold exposures during incubation and postnatal cold temperature affect performance, breast meat quality, and welfare parameters in broiler chickens

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2020
Cold stimulations during egg incubation were reported to limit the occurrence of ascites in broilers subjected to cold temperature after 14 d of age.

Reducing broiler breast myopathies through supplementation of guanidinoacetic acid in broiler diets

open access: yesJournal of Applied Poultry Research, 2023
SUMMARY: Performance and processing advantages have been noted in meat animal production when excess arginine is available in the diet. In addition, dietary inclusion of guanidinoacetic acid (GAA) has provided insight on sparing arginine for broiler ...

Ontogenetic and phylogenetic simplification during white stripe evolution in clownfishes [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Biology, 2018
Biologists have long been fascinated by the striking diversity of complex color patterns in tropical reef fishes. However, the origins and evolution of this diversity are still poorly understood. Disentangling the evolution of simple color patterns offers the opportunity to dissect both ultimate and proximate causes underlying color diversity. Here, we ...
