Drying Rate Prediction for Droplets under Combined Convection and Infrared Radiation Drying

open access: yesChemical Engineering &Technology, Volume 48, Issue 6, June 2025.
Combined convection and radiation drying increases process efficiency and scope. Experiments regarding the influence of convective airflow temperature and radiative power on the mass reduction rate in first‐phase drying were performed. A model was developed for the drying rate prediction in 20 µL water droplets and transferred to a polymer solution ...

High Power Density Micro Thermoelectric Generators for Powering IoTs

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 2, February 2025.
Micro thermoelectric generators (µTEGs) hold promises as sustainable power sources for IoT applications, but their low output performance remains a key limitation. To address this limitation, µTEG performance is enhanced by reducing electrical contact resistance, improving thermal coupling to the heat source, and optimizing device geometry, achieving a

Deep Neural Network Predicts Ti‐6Al‐4V Dissolution State Using Near‐Field Impedance Spectra

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 34, Issue 4, January 22, 2024.
First, selective dissolution of the Ti‐6Al‐4V β phase occurs in modular taper junctions of total hip replacement systems. Second, nearfield electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (nEIS) of in vitro dissolved surfaces reveals a significant increase in capacitance compared to control Ti‐6Al‐4V (p = 0.000).

Sex differences in sleep architecture in a mouse model of Huntington's disease

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience Research, Volume 102, Issue 1, January 2024.
EEG measurements of vigilance states (wake, NREM sleep, REM sleep) were taken from groups of mice (BACHD, WT; Male, Female) at 3 months of age. A number of sex differences were found in the daily rhythm in sleep architecture with BACHD males being particularly impacted. There were no group differences in response to sleep deprivation.
