Epizootics in wild birds have not received adequate attention, a factor which accounts for our lack of knowledge on the natural distribution of some pathogens. Native birds appear to be an important reservoir of Pasteurella multocida. Sporadic or epizootic outbreaks of pasteurellosis in wild birds have been recorded over the past 30 years.
