Spatial and temporal variation in survival of female wild turkeys

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
We monitored 370 female wild turkeys across North Carolina's 3 ecoregions from 2020‐2022 to understand factors influencing their survival. Female survival varied by ecoregion and behavior state, with the incubation period having the lowest survival rates. None of the land cover variables affected survival.

Eplontersen for Hereditary Transthyretin Amyloidosis With Polyneuropathy: An Exploratory Analysis of Treatment Effect in Male and Female Patients

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
This exploratory analysis of data from the NEURO‐TTRansform trial evaluated sex‐specific responses in patients with ATTRv‐PN who had received eplontersen in NEURO‐TTRansform versus a historical placebo. Eplontersen can lead to substantial decreases in percentage serum TTR levels, arrest neuropathy impairment, and improve patient quality of life ...

Stable Carbon and Nitrogen Isotope Analysis Explores Diverse Domestic Goose Management Practices in Medieval and Postmedieval Russia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Osteoarchaeology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Studying goose domestication through archaeological finds has been challenging due to the similar skeletal morphology of the European domestic goose and its wild progenitor, the greylag goose (Anser anser). We analyzed stable carbon (δ13C) and nitrogen (δ15N) isotopes from bone collagen of subfossil domestic and potentially domestic geese to ...
