Research on the Size Effect of Unstable Fracture Toughness by the Modified Maximum Tangential Stress (MMTS) Criterion

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
This paper investigates the unstable fracture toughness of specimens of different heights using the double-K model for three-point bending tests on notched concrete beams.

Integrated Transcriptomics Reveals Evolutionary Trajectories and Cell Density‐Dependent Mechanisms in Aldosterone‐Producing Adenomas

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Aldosterone‐producing adenomas (APAs) develop via two distinct paths: directly from adrenal zona glomerulosa (zG) cells, or stepwise from zG cells through aldosterone‐producing micronodules (APMs) before progressing to APAs. Advanced single‐cell and spatial analyses identified distinct cell states linked to oxidative stress and cell–cell interactions ...

Non-Perturbative Gravity and the Spin of the Lattice Graviton

open access: yes, 2004
The lattice formulation of quantum gravity provides a natural framework in which non-perturbative properties of the ground state can be studied in detail.

A three-dimensional view of the remnant of Nova Persei 1901 (GK Per) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present a kinematical study of the optical ejecta of GK Per. It is based on proper motions measurements of 282 knots from ~20 images spanning 25 years. Doppler-shifts are also computed for 217 knots.

Temporal and Cell‐Specific Regulation of Synaptic Homeostasis by the Chromatin Remodeler Chd1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chd1, the Drosophila homologue of mammalian CHD2 ‐ a gene linked to autism, epilepsy, and intellectual disability, is required for synaptic homeostatic plasticity. Chd1 in glia is necessary for the rapid induction of synaptic homeostasis, whereas Chd1 in motoneurons, muscle, and glia is critical for long‐term maintenance.

Alternative treatment for open bite Class III malocclusion in a child with Williams-Beuren syndrome

open access: yesDental Press Journal of Orthodontics, 2015
Williams-Beuren syndrome (WBS) is a rare genetic condition that affects approximately 1 in every 20,000 - 50,000 live births. WBS children have specific skeletal deformities, dental malformations and rare lingual muscle dysfunction.

Telomere‐to‐Telomere Genomes Reveal that Multiscale Evolution Shapes the Largest Metabolic Arsenal of Diaporthe Fungi

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents the first telomere‐to‐telomere genomes and population resources for Diaporthe pathogens, uncovering the largest known fungal repertoire of secondary metabolite gene clusters. Structural variations and horizontal gene transfer drive cluster diversification, while specific rapidly evolving clusters control virulence, offering novel ...

A Spatially Resolved Study of the Synchrotron Emission and Titanium in Tycho's Supernova Remnant with NuSTAR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We report results from deep observations (~750 ks) of Tycho's supernova remnant (SNR) with NuSTAR. Using these data, we produce narrow-band images over several energy bands to identify the regions producing the hardest X-rays and to search for ...
