Experimental Study of Mitigation of Wind-Induced Vibration in Asymmetric Cable-Stayed Bridge Using Sharp Wind Fairings

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
This paper investigated the aerodynamic response features of an asymmetric cable-stayed bridge. The wind resistance design parameters for judging the response were first determined, afterwards the bridge dynamic characteristics were analyzed for ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Analysis of wind-induced vibration effect parameters in flexible cable-supported photovoltaic systems: A case study on ground anchor with steel cables

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
The pre-stressed flexible cable-supported photovoltaic (PV) systems (FCSPSs) are gradually becoming the preferred PV structure for large-span and mountain photovoltaic power plants.

Sectional Model Wind Tunnel Test and Research on the Wind-Induced Vibration Response of a Curved Beam Unilateral Stayed Bridge

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
The linear curve distribution of the beam and the asymmetrical layout of the stay cables may have beneficial or adverse influences on cable-stayed bridges.

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Calculation of the Dynamic Wind-Induced Deflection Response of Overhead Lines: Establishment and Analysis of the Multi-Rigid-Body Model

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Wind-induced deflection flashover severely endangers the normal operation of overhead transmission lines. This paper proposes a multi-rigid-body model for the accurate and efficient calculation of the dynamic wind-induced deflection response of overhead ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

A novel partitioned numerical coupling between vortex particle method–structure–smoothed particle hydrodynamics models for wind-induced vibration analysis

open access: yesResults in Engineering
The article introduces a novel weakly-partitioned numerical coupling method implemented to analyze the wind-induced response of low-damped structures incorporating a Tuned Liquid Damper (TLD).

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Modelling the aerodynamics of vertical-axis wind turbines in unsteady wind conditions

open access: yes, 2013
Most numerical and experimental studies of the performance of vertical-axis wind turbines have been conducted with the rotors in steady, and thus somewhat artificial, wind conditions - with the result that turbine aerodynamics, under varying wind ...
