ASSESSMENT OF COASTAL EROSION RELATED TO WIND CHARACTERISTICS IN PENINSULAR MALAYSIA [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2018
Malaysia is a maritime country that is located north of the Equator. Hence, it is prone to monsoon changes all the time. Monsoon in Malaysia has contributed to a lot of wind-related disaster.

WIND DIRECTION FREQUENCY ANALYSIS FOR THE JUGO WIND IN THE ADRIATIC

open access: yesHrvatski meteorološki časopis, 1999
The strong wind blowing from the south-eastern quadrant over the Adriatic Sea region is known as jugo, in the eastern coastal area customarily also called scirocco. The jugo wind type has been separated from the five-year hourly wind data (1976-1980) for three stations (Pula, Split and Dubrovnik), by introducing a criterion with conditions a wind ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Quantifying the effects of airflow distortion on anemometer wind speed measurements from merchant ships [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Anemometers on Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS) are usually located above the bridge in a region where the effects of air flow distortion, created by the presence of the ship, may be large.

Wind speed forecasting using Singular Systems Analysis

open access: yes, 2013
We report on a method to predict wind speeds up to 24 hours ahead using a technique originating in Dynamical Systems and Chaos theory using a signal processing technique known as Singular Systems Analysis. The method predicts wind speeds based on a set of

DIREÇÃO E VELOCIDADE DO VENTO EM UMA FLORESTA DE TRANSIÇÃO AMAZÔNIA-CERRADO NO NORTE DE MATO GROSSO, BRASIL

open access: yesBoletim Goiano de Geografia, 2011
The objective of the work was to determine the predominant wind direction and speed in a region of rain Amazon-Savanna transition forest, located approximately 50 km from the city of Sinop, in northern Mato Grosso, Brazil. The daily directions wind and ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Control-oriented modelling of wind direction variability [PDF]

open access: yesWind Energy Science
Wind direction variability significantly affects the performance and lifetime of wind turbines and wind farms. Accurately modelling wind direction variability and understanding the effects of yaw misalignment are critical towards designing better wind ...

A New Wind Change in Direct Taxation [PDF]

open access: yesGerman Law Journal, 2020
Direct taxation in the EU is like a Darrieus Turbine, relatively good efficiency, but it showspoor reliability, as it depends on external power to start, and it tends to be fatigue-prone due tothe wide variation in applied forces during each rotation.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.
