Dynamic wind farm controller.

open access: yes, 2015
This work presents a dynamic wind farm controller for maximising power output of a wind farm. The controller uses a coordinated control approach where the output of the upstream turbines is varied to minimise wake effects on the downstream turbines.

Optimization of wind farm power production using innovative control strategies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Wind energy has experienced a very significant growth and cost reduction over the past decade, and is now able to compete with conventional power generation sources.

Soil salinity effects on pollen and pollinator visitation in a buzz‐pollinated glycophyte, Solanum carolinense

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Human activity has significantly altered the salt cycle, affecting an estimated 2.5 billion acres of soil worldwide. Elevated soil salinity is a well‐known plant stressor, but it may also affect interactions between plants and insects, which are often sodium limited.

Power regulation and generator tripping control strategy for direct-drive wind farms under sub/super-synchronous oscillation risk

open access: yesDiance yu yibiao
Direct-drive wind farms usually trip all wind turbines to ensure power grid security when facing sub/super-synchronous oscillation risks. Tripping the entire wind farm not only seriously damages the production operation of the wind farm, but also causes ...

Assessing the Feasibility of Wearable Devices for Physiological Monitoring and Heat Risk Prediction in Outdoor Agricultural Workers

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Industrial Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Outdoor agricultural workers experience significant heat exposure, yet few studies have evaluated whether wearable sensors can reliably measure continuous physiological responses in real field conditions. This pilot study examined the feasibility and predictive utility of core temperature, hydration, heart rate, and movement data ...

Model‐free closed‐loop wind farm control using reinforcement learning with recursive least squares

open access: yesWind Energy
Wind farms experience significant power losses due to wake interactions between turbines. Research shows that wake steering can alleviate these losses by redirecting the flow through the farm. However, dynamic closed‐loop implementations of wake steering

In‐vitro puncture experiment using alligator teeth tracks the formation of dental microwear and its association with hardness of the diet

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract With the development of dental microwear texture analysis (DMTA), there has been an increasing application of DMTA for dietary estimation in extant and fossil reptiles, including dinosaurs. While numerous feeding experiments exist for herbivorous mammals, knowledge remains limited for carnivorous reptiles. This study aimed to qualitatively and

Acoustic control of wind farms

open access: yes, 2015
Great attention is currently paid to protecting res-idential areas from the noise pollution due to wind turbines.A family of acoustic constraints was developed to assess it.Maximizing electricity production under these constraints isdifficult as they rapidly evolve with weather conditions andbackground noise.

The cranial, mandibular, and hyoid anatomy of softshell turtles (Trionychidae): A revised character list for phylogenetic analysis

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Softshell turtles (Pan‐Trionychidae) are an early branching clade of hidden‐necked turtles (Cryptodira) with a rich fossil record extending back to the Early Cretaceous. The evolutionary history of softshell turtles is still unresolved because of their conservative morphology combined with high levels of polymorphism related to morphological ...

Evolutionary radiation of large‐bodied gorgonopsians from the lower Abrahamskraal formation of South Africa

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The middle Permian represents a critical interval in therapsid evolution, when gorgonopsians emerged as some of the first specialized apex predators within terrestrial ecosystems. Despite their significance, the early diversification of Gorgonopsia in Gondwana remains poorly understood due to scarcity and fragmentary material.
