Long-term wind resource and uncertainty estimation using wind records from Scotland as example [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A systematic analysis of the sensitivity of a wind turbine’s output to changes in observed wind statistics between different sites in Scotland over available wind records of up to 43 years length was performed.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Evaluation of simple wind power forecasting methods applied to a long-term wind record from Scotland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present an analysis of the ability to predict the power output from a nominal wind turbine or wind farm a few hours ahead using only locally available data – either the current and recent wind speed or power output. A third method combines the current

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Impact of Station Relocation on Observed Surface Wind Measurement Data and Its Application Effectiveness

open access: yes应用气象学报
Surface wind speed time series from national meteorological stations are frequently utilized in studies of wind climate change analysis, wind energy resource assessment, and engineering considerations for wind resistance.

The evaluation of the critical wind speed that overturns a vehicle with space-averaged instantaneous wind velocity

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2018
Under the existing method based on a detailed equation for evaluating the wind speed that can cause a vehicle to overturn, it is assumed that the crosswind blows the vehicle at the same wind speed uniformly over the entire length of the vehicle body ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Possible biases in wind speed measurements from merchant ships [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Wind speed measurements obtained from ship-mounted anemometers are biased by the presence of the ship which distorts the airflow to the anemometer. Until recently this bias had only been quantified for a few well-exposed anemometer sites on individual ...
