FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

Numerical simulation of the world ocean circulation [PDF]

open access: yes
A multi-level model, based on the primitive equations, is developed for simulating the temperature and velocity fields produced in the world ocean by differential heating and surface wind stress. The model ocean has constant depth, free slip at the lower

Evaluation of in vitro toxicity of common phytochemicals included in weight loss supplements using 1H NMR spectroscopy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the toxicity of 12 active compounds commonly found in herbal weight loss supplements (WLS) using human liver and colon cell models. Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate was the only compound showing significant toxicity. Metabolic profiling revealed protein degradation, disrupted energy and lipid metabolism suggesting that the inclusion of EGCG ...

Fine-Scale Temporal Wind Variability in ERA5 and Its Implications for Wind Stress Calculation

open access: yesRemote Sensing
High-frequency wind variability plays a critical role in understanding air–sea interactions. In this study, we evaluate the performance of ERA5 reanalysis in capturing fine-scale wind variability and its impact on wind stress estimates using half-hourly ...

Fatigue Analysis of Greenhouse Structure under Wind Load and Self-Weight

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
The design strength of a greenhouse structure is generally determined by analyzing strength after applying wind load using the wind pressure coefficient according to a design guide.

Fatigue load spectra for upwind and downwind rotors [PDF]

open access: yes
Effect of both alternating and mean load on the fatigue life of an upwind and downwind MOD-2 wind turbine system is presented. It was shown that the fatigue damage varies as the product of the stress range cubed and the maximum stress.

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Assessing the Future ODYSEA Satellite Mission for the Estimation of Ocean Surface Currents, Wind Stress, Energy Fluxes, and the Mechanical Coupling Between the Ocean and the Atmosphere

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Over the past decade, several studies based on coupled ocean–atmosphere simulations have shown that the oceanic surface current feedback to the atmosphere (CFB) leads to a slow-down of the mean oceanic circulation and, overall, to the so-called eddy ...

The Effects of Mesoscale Ocean–Atmosphere Coupling on the Quasigeostrophic Double Gyre

open access: yesFluids, 2016
We investigate the effects of sea surface temperature (SST)-dependent wind stress on the wind-driven quasigeostrophic (QG) double gyre. The main effects are to reduce the strength of the circulation and to shift the inter-gyre jet to the south.

Minimal model for aeolian sand dunes

open access: yes, 2002
We present a minimal model for the formation and migration of aeolian sand dunes. It combines a perturbative description of the turbulent wind velocity field above the dune with a continuum saltation model that allows for saturation transients in the ...
