A Liquid Ge(IV) Precursor for Low Temperature Plasma Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition of Germanium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 20, 7 April 2026.
Utilizing the 3‐(N,N‐dimethylamino)propyl (DMP) ligand, the new liquid Ge(IV) precursor [Ge(DMP)4] has been developed, which possesses adequate volatility, reactivity, and exceptional thermal stability. This precursor is capable of low‐temperature processing of GeO2 and GeOx with tunable film composition and sub‐nm thickness control in a range from 40 ...

Scents of care: Multispecies relations in Pakistan's heatwave

open access: yesThe Australian Journal of Anthropology, Volume 37, Issue 1, Page 51-63, April 2026.
Abstract This article examines how odour, intensified by heat, shapes the sensory aspects of social and multispecies relations in Pakistan. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork in Kasur's tanneries and Lahore's animal shelters during a period of record‐breaking heat, it analyses how smell structures inclusion and exclusion, mediates encounters with humans

New Hybrid Nanocomposite Films for Optical Diagnostics and Optical Temperature Sensing: Synergy Among α‐Synuclein, Gold and Upconverting Nanoparticles

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 15, 12 March 2026.
Gold and upconverting nanoparticles coated with alpha‐synuclein were exploited to produce a quasi‐monolayer hybrid film. The film was then characterized, and its behaviour as a primary optical nano‐thermometer was studied. The film was also used in a proof‐of‐concept study of image‐based optical nanothermometry exploiting a home‐built up‐conversion ...

Advanced Electron Microscopy of Clusters Grown Inside Superfluid Helium Droplets: Advances, Challenges, and Perspectives

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
Superfluid helium nanodroplets enable ultraclean synthesis of metallic clusters and nanowires unattainable by other methods. This review surveys aberration‐corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM), electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS)/energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDX), and electron tomography to resolve their structure ...

Understanding the Chemical and Electronic Properties of Sub‐Monolayer TiO2 on High Surface Area Silica for Jet Fuel Synthesis Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 1, 2 January 2026.
Sub‐monolayer titania grafted onto mesoporous silica enables solvent‐free photocatalytic upgrading of furfural and cyclopentanone into jet fuel precursors. Advanced spectroscopic methods reveal tunable surface speciation, acidity, and bandgaps, enhancing catalytic efficiency.

VO2 Nanocomposite Thin Films Integrated on Glass Substrates for Tunable Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2026.
This work explores tuning the metal‐to‐insulator transition and optical properties through a novel multifaceted approach using both defect engineering and energy band restructuring. VO2‐Au nanocomposite and VO2 thin films are grown on glass with ZnO buffers using pulsed laser deposition.

Towards an EMC Coordination for Interharmonics in Public Low Voltage Networks

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Flicker in LED lamps caused by interharmonic distortion was identified as a new interference mechanism, which is not yet covered by the existing EMC coordination. Following the process for EMC coordination, the article starts from a detailed characterisation of the new interference mechanism.

“Dream Insertion”: A Case Report of a Novel Psychotic Symptom in a Male Inpatient With Treatment Resistant Schizophrenia

open access: yesCase Reports in Psychiatry, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Individuals with schizophrenia appear to experience differences in dreaming compared to control populations—the small amounts of research that does exist demonstrates abnormalities such as simpler dreams that are more bizarre and with greater negative content than those of controls.

Reasoning without consensus: grassroots experiments in radical inclusion in Israel/Palestine Raisonner sans consensus : expériences locales d'inclusion radicale en Israël et en Palestine

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, Volume 31, Issue 4, Page 1079-1097, December 2025.
Liberal public reason seeks to provide a neutral platform for political engagement. Yet, its conditions, notably the rules of engagement and the demand for consensus, effectively exclude many populations with non‐liberal subjectivities from public participation.
