Homogeneity in a Metal Wire under Melting

International Journal of Thermophysics, 2005
Results of numerical simulations of the melting wave in a tungsten wire heated by a high-power nanosecond current pulse are presented. To take into account the hydrodynamic effects under melting, a semiempirical multiphase equation of state for tungsten is used.

Investigation of melting dynamics of filler wire during wire feed laser welding

Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2013
In order to investigate the mechanism of stability for the wire feed laser welding process, systematic experiments are carried out in this study for 5A06 aluminum alloy. By using high speed camera, the melting dynamics of filler wires with different feed positions and feed rates are studied.

Wire melting phenomena in gas metal arc welding

Science and Technology of Welding and Joining, 2005
The wire melting rate in gas metal arc welding using constant voltage power supplies is well described by a parabolic model that considers the effects of electrical resistance and arc heating. However, tests performed with constant current power supplies indicate that the melting rate can deviate from this model when welding current is close to the ...

Experimental study of ice melting of concrete permeable brick sidewalks using embedded carbon fibre heating wire

International Journal on Road Materials and Pavement Design, 2023
Electric heating methods have been proven to be effective means to melt ice on sidewalks and bridge decks. However, sidewalks are covered with permeable concrete bricks separated by gaps, which differ from surfaces of roads and bridge decks.

Asymmetric Melting Behavior in Twin Wire Arc Spraying with Cored Wires

Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, 2008
Abstract Asymmetric melting behaviour of the electrodes is a process related feature of the twin wire arc spraying (TWAS) technique since the heating of the negative connected wire is different from that of the positive connected wire. Due to these differences in melting behaviour a tracking of particle velocity and temperature for both ...

Melt tearing and ovality in wire coating

Polymer Engineering & Science, 2000
AbstractWe investigate how to avoid tearing, egg‐shaped cross sections or foldover of the polymer melt cone in tube coating of wire. We use an isothermal Newtonian model for the melt cone. We calculate the melt stress and the draw ratio balance, the parameter used in industry to avoid process problems.
