Influence of wire feeding speed on the melting behavior and formation of narrow-gap joint by laser welding with filler wire

Journal of Laser Applications, 2020
The influence of wire feeding speed during laser welding with a filling wire was investigated by high-speed imaging and mechanical analysis of the droplet.

A triple-wire indirect arc welding method with high melting efficiency of base metal

Journal of Manufacturing Processes, 2019
This study presents a modified triple-wire indirect arc welding method to improve melting efficiency of the base metal. To achieve this, a mirror-symmetrical wire arrangement was adopted because of small arc distribution space and the electrode polarity ...

Analysis of the Wire Melting Behavior Depending on Wire Design and Process Characteristics

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2002
Abstract This study examines the melting characteristics of wire feedstock used in arc and flame spray processes and how they relate to coating quality. A high-speed CCD camera reveals important details in how different types of wire melt away during spraying.

Wire Coating by Drawdown of an Extruded Annular Melt

International Polymer Processing, 1999
Abstract An analytical solution is presented for wire coating by drawdown of an extruded annular melt. The solution is developed with the assumption that the pressures inside and outside the film are equal; a process in which these pressures differ, such as a vacuum inside the film, is treated as a limiting case.

Wire coating and melt elasticity

Physics of Fluids
In modern wire coating, the polymer is dragged through a round cylindrical die. Onto this drag flow, we superpose pressure-driven extrusion. We devote this paper to analyzing this extrusion in eccentric cylindrical coordinates. We find that, when the molten polymer is an elastic liquid, a recentring force, Fx, is exerted on the wire.

Pressure melting and regelation of ice by round wires

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1973
Abstract The motion of wires pulled transversely through ice has long been explained in terms of pressure melting at the front of the wire and regelation behind it, the speed of the process being controlled by the rate of conduction of the heat of fusion through the wire and the ice.

Isothermal melt processing of Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oy round wire

Physica C: Superconductivity, 1995
Abstract Isothermal melt processing (IMP) has been used to process oxide-powder-in-tube (OPIT) Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oy (Bi-2212) round wire with high critical current densities. Isothermal melt processing is a process in which the melting and solidification steps are carried out at the same temperature by melting in an inert atmosphere and solidifying in a ...

Some properties of melt-produced YBaCuO wire

Superconductor Science and Technology, 1988
YBaCuO ceramic, with a nominal metal ratio 1:2:3, was melted in an alumina furnace and squirted in the form of thin wire. The wire obtained is dense and hard but insulating. After homogenisation and short oxygenation the wire becomes superconducting with Tc (onset) equal to that of the usual YBa2Cu3O7 ceramics.

Study of an additive manufacturing technology using pulsed inductive wire melting

International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics
Additive manufacturing is becoming increasingly widespread and has developed very dynamically in recent years. For the processing of metals, powder or wire is usually used as the feedstock.
