Task-Oriented Edge Networks: Decentralized Learning Over Wireless Fronthaul

open access: yesIEEE Internet of Things Journal
This paper studies task-oriented edge networks where multiple edge internet-of-things nodes execute machine learning tasks with the help of powerful deep neural networks (DNNs) at a network cloud. Separate edge nodes (ENs) result in a partially observable system where they can only get partitioned features of the global network states.

Adaptive power management for multiaccess edge computing‐based 6G‐inspired massive Internet of Things

open access: yesIET Wireless Sensor Systems, Volume 15, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
The paper proposes a containerised edge computing model for power optimisation in 6G‐inspired massive Internet‐of‐Things applications. The problem is formulated as a central processing unit energy consumption cost function based on quasi‐finite system observations. Results show that the model performs better compared to a competitive baseline algorithm.

Genetic Algorithm Assisted Hybrid Beamforming for Wireless Fronthaul

open access: yes, 2018
This paper proposes a genetic algorithm assisted hybrid signal to leakage plus noise ratio (SLNR) beamforming design for wireless fronthaul scenario. The digital precoder of the proposed hybrid SLNR beamforming is expressed in closed-form. Highly limited phase resolution (one-bit resolution) is assumed at the phase shifters at the analog precoder.

Microservice Adaptability and Self‐Organization of UAV‐Assisted Wireless Networks in Failure Rural Scenarios

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Internet access remains unavailable for approximately 2 billion people in remote areas, limiting their access to essential services such as healthcare and education. This paper presents a UAV‐based wireless network architecture combined with a microservice model to ensure the dynamic deployment of IoT applications in rural environments.

Design and Optimization of a Phase‐Tunable Mixer Based on Cascaded Dual‐Drive Mach–Zehnder Modulator Considering Nonlinear Behavior of Modulator

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optics, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This paper proposes a novel phase‐tunable mixer based on a cascaded dual‐drive Mach–Zehnder modulator (DDMZM), designed to address the critical need for simultaneous frequency mixing and precise phase control in phased array antennas. Unlike conventional mixers, the proposed structure uniquely combines frequency mixing and phase tuning, enabling ...

Delay aware resource allocation in ORAN through network optimization

open access: yesIET Wireless Sensor Systems, Volume 14, Issue 6, Page 528-538, December 2024.
This Figure shows the basic design of open radio access network architecture, in which the virtual machines collaborate within the physical servers. Abstract A multi variable resource allocation problem is investigated in network environments, specifically focusing on the consideration of quality of service in open radio access network.

Leveraging Massive MIMO Over mmWave Fronthaul Link for Throughput Maximization in Cloud Radio Access Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access
Massive data traffic over capacity-limited fronthaul link of a cloud radio access network (CRAN) poses a severe challenge in modern wireless systems. We propose a novel CRAN architecture to address this challenge that leverages a large array of antennas ...

Convergent optical fronthaul link for wireless access over different spectral bands

open access: yesOptical Fiber Technology
[EN] We demonstrate a convergent optical fronthaul link for enabling heterogeneous wireless access technologies in 6G future networks deployment based on a directly modulated laser and an external Mach¿Zehnder modulator biased at null point for optical frequency multiplying.
