Renal Concentrating Capacity in Long‐Term Lithium Treatment and after Withdrawal of Lithium

Acta Medica Scandinavica, 1980
ABSTRACT. The urinary concentrating capacity was estimated with the DDAVP test in 87 patients receiving lithium therapy, which was discontinued in all patients. The test was repeated three and eight weeks after withdrawal of lithium in 75 patients and one year after withdrawal in 27 patients. Of the 87 patients, 52 were also treated with neuroleptics,

Depression and Capacity to Withdraw from Dialysis

The Journal of Clinical Ethics, 2022
A patient with a history of bipolar II disorder and end-stage renal disease who required hemodialysis for five years abruptly wished to withdraw from dialysis on day seven of her hospital admission for a urinary tract infection. She had never discussed wishing to withdraw from dialysis prior to this hospital admission.

Parasympathetic modulation withdrawal improves functional capacity in pulmonary arterial hypertension

Respiratory Physiology & Neurobiology, 2021
In 15 pulmonary arterial hypertension patients, the relation of functional capacity to their peripheral endothelial function and sympathaovagal modulation was studied by carrying out brachial artery ultrasound and electrocardiogram spectral analysis, respectively.

IMPACT OF MOISTURE CYCLING ON SCREW WITHDRAWAL CAPACITY OF TREATED AND UNTREATED RADIATA PINE

World Conference on Timber Engineering (WCTE 2023), 2023
The increased use of wood products for construction has intensified the need to understand how moisture affects the mechanical properties of timber connections. The withdrawal capacity of dowel-type fasteners, such as screws, needs to be measured, or estimated, for the design of timber systems having connections with axially loaded dowel-type fasteners.

IMPACT OF TIMBER ORIGIN ON SCREW WITHDRAWAL CAPACITY

World Conference on Timber Engineering 2025
Ductility in mass timber structures is primarily achieved through connections. The current Australian Timber Standard AS1720.1-2010 has not developed at the same rate as modern timber construction and provides simplified design methods that are not suitable for modern fasteners, such as self-tapping screws (STSs).

EFFECT OF WOOD RELAXATION ON NAIL WITHDRAWAL CAPACITY

World Conference on Timber Engineering 2025
Nails are among the most frequently used fasteners in timber construction, with nail withdrawal capacity (NWC) being a critical performance parameter. Although NWC has been extensively investigated under various conditions, the influence of wood relaxation is often overlooked.

Platelet Thromboxane Formation Capacity after Ethanol Withdrawal in Chronic Alcoholics

Haemostasis, 2009
Collagen-, arachidonate- and ADP-stimulated platelet thromboxane B2 (TXB2) formation was studied in platelet-rich plasma (PRP) of 14 alcoholics, 7 of whom had a biopsy-verified alcoholic fatty liver. On admission for detoxication, the alcoholics showed decreased platelet count and aggregability (p < 0 ...

Withdrawal capacity of washers in bolted timber connections

Wood Material Science and Engineering, 2009
The European Yield Model (EYM) has been accepted to determine the load-carrying capacity of structural timber connections. However, experiments of bolted connections are still not in agreement with the EYM unless the additional bearing capacity offered by the washers is taken into account.

Technical Note: Lateral Connections and Withdrawal Capacity of Western Juniper

Wood and Fiber Science, 2018
The goal of this project is to increase the amount of available information about western juniper wood to encourage its use in structural applications. This project evaluated the performance of connections involving western juniper wood and other common wood-based building materials.
