Telework or home work has developed in an important way over the recent decades. Some consider it as a way to better balance professional and personal or family responsibilities, while others see in it a source of disruption in personal and family life ...

A conciliação de papéis profissionais e familiares: o mecanismo psicológico de spillover

open access: yesPsicologia: Teoria e Pesquisa
A maioria dos estudos sobre o tema da conciliação entre a vida profissional e familiar tem assumido uma perspectiva negativa e de conflito, focando as dificuldades nesta conciliação.

How Work Family Conflict, Work-Life Balance, and Job Performance Connect: Evidence from Auditors in Public Accounting Firms

open access: yesJurnal ASET (Akuntansi Riset), 2020
This research examines whether work-family conflict (both work-interfering family and family interfering work) among auditors in public accounting firms affects their job performance and whether the effect is mediated by work-life balance.

Time Toxicity in Wilms Tumor: Quantifying the Burden of Healthcare Interaction in the First Year After Diagnosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Wilms tumor (WT) treatment imposes a significant time burden on patients and their families. Time toxicity is a patient‐centered metric that quantifies the burden of healthcare interaction. We sought to define time toxicity in the first year after diagnosis of WT and hypothesized that it would increase as tumor stage and treatment ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Family cyberloafing and work-life balance: digital coping with work–family conflict across generations

open access: yesBusiness: Theory and Practice
Work-family conflict (WFC) often undermines employees’ well-being, yet the coping role of family-related cyberloafing (FCL) across generations remains unclear.
